I can't agree with the previous reviewer when he says his S key has worn down after two weeks. I bought the 6G v2 for work, to replace the cheap cr** the company gave us. I'm a sub editor on a national newspaper, so I pound the keys for eight hours of the day. I wouldn't even be able to guess how many, but probably several thousand keystrokes a day. I'm also a power user in that I use a lot of keyboard short cuts and the mouse as little as possible. It's quicker that way. Yes, some of the keys are getting a bit shiny but no ways are they even close to being worn out after eight months. One small complaint with the keyboard is that some keys I use a lot (delete and down arrow) actually started bouncing out - really bouncing out. I have read of other users with a similar complaint. I fixed that with a tiny little bit of Pres-stick putty but it's a small problem. Other than that, it's very strongly built, heavy (good), yet quite compact (maybe the keys are just a little bit too close together, but I've got big hands).
However, that's minor compared to the sheer joy and pleasure of working on a proper mechanical keyboard on which there can be no more pleasurable typing experience. I had one of the legendary IMB Model M keyboards some years ago before it gave up the ghost and this (for me) one brings back the precision, the feeling of dexterity, the competence, the precision and the speed that are compromised by lesser quality. I'm writing this on my home keyboard - a Logitech MX 5000 - and it truly sucks in comparison because I am so much slower and inaccurate. I can never go back to anything less than a mechanical keyboard, no matter the cost, which if you think about it is minimal - say 10% of the PC itself and the keyboard will last ten years or more.
There are a number of other equally good mechanical keyboards on the market - Das Keyboard and Filco come immediately to mind but they're more expensive. I chose the 6G v2 partly because I could get it from an online retailer in this country, but more because of the layout of the keys, the size of the return key and its proximity to the backspace - with no key in between. Mechanics are one thing but ergonomics are another. The layout is great. I don't regret the purchase one little bit. I haven't tried it for gaming yet but I will get one, or its like, for home use.
