These are a number of steel guitar players, such as Little Roy Wiggins, Jerry Byrd, Leon McAuliffe, Buddy Emmons, and several others, who all play different ways, which are country music tunes that I like best. Some sound like the Hawaiian steel guitar and sometimes the electric pickup sounds different, but others do it their way. Leon Mculiffe plays his band with a touch of "jazz", while Buddy Emmons does all sorts of sounds, and then there is Herb Remington is totally different, as did Bashfull Brother Oswald playing more like the Dobro, or Jimmy Day on the steel guitar. This is well worth having the "Steel Guitar Hall of Fame" of ten tunes on this CD collection.

I wish it would get better instead of the way it has gone 26 Aug. 2014

This is the kind of country music that I grew up listening too, and loving it too. Although music does change, I wish it would get better instead of the way it has gone.

Pure Country steel guitar from the past 3 April 2015

Some great steel guitar work. You need to be able to enjoy serious Country (and a little Hawaiian), but there are some fine pieces on this album. A couple of tracks could have used some clean-up - some audio artifacts from the original recordings distracts a little. Overall, I found most of the tracks excellent, by performers I hadn't heard before. These are all instrumental tracks, so the focus is on the guitar playing, which is perfect. Would have gotten 5 stars if the audio on a couple of tracks had been processed a little - I know that may offend purists, but I like a cleaner sound, even from old recordings.
