She’s everything a big bad wolf could want.

Halle Pumas, Book 4

Coping with a devastating injury is hard enough for Belinda “Belle” Campbell. Forced separation from her destined mate while she heals is almost more than she can endure. Until she is strong enough to take up her duties as Luna of the Poconos Wolf Pack, however, the safest place for her is Halle. Now, after months of being alone, she is more than ready to be claimed. But is the pack ready for a Puma Luna?

Rick Lowell has waited long enough to bring Belle home where she belongs. He’s aware of the danger, as well—and it isn’t long before a bitch with an eye on Belle’s position issues a challenge. The only way to put down the threat is for Belle to defeat the usurper in combat.

There’s only one problem. Thanks to the pins in her broken hip, Belle can’t shift. Without that tactical advantage, it won’t be a fair fight. With his new mate’s life on the line, Rick is forced to make a decision that will change everything.

That is, if Belle gives him the chance to make it.

Puma meets Wolf 3 Oct 2011
By Dobsew
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Steel Beauty is my favourite Halle Pumas book. It is about Belle, a female puma who, thanks to her best ex-friend, became an outcast in the Pride and only a handful of it's members would acknowledge her. Even after saving Sheri's life in the previous book, Belle is not acknowledged. Struggling through the recuperation of her injuries, she has found her mate, an Alpha wolf, Rick, who wants to take her back to his Pack and introduce her as his Luna. Only one problem, a dominant female wolf, Gina, will do anything in her power to ruin their plans and for Gina to become the Luna of the Pack instead.

This is a brilliant story about Rick and Belle having to overcome several hurdles both emotionally and physically between themselves and their respective families in order to be together.

Dana Marie Belle has again followed through on the writing style with very funny parts and steamy sex scenes. The raillery between wolf and puma is hilarious. Belle is an excellent character whom many take a face value but Rick knows there is more to her than what she portrays. The iPod scene had me roaring with laughter. I would have been happy to read more about this couple, hopefully they will be part of the final book of the series.

5 blue ribbons from Romance Junkies 11 Aug 2009

Format:Kindle Edition
Belinda `Belle' Campbell has had more than her fair share of pain - both mentally and physically. She's been practically ostracized by many of the members of the Halle pride and injured severely enough to require a steel pin in her leg - which means that she can't shapeshift until they're removed. The last thing she needs is more complications but that's exactly what she gets in the form of an Alpha wolf named Rick Lowell.

Rick Lowell is the Alpha of the Red Wolf Poconos Pack. He isn't exactly having an easy go of things here lately. He's been shot, killed a rogue, found his mate, learned of her injuries, and now been told that he cannot take her home. Why? Because she's Puma and the Wolf pack has to be prepared to accept a non-Wolf Luna. He could handle all that but throw in an uppity dominant female looking to take over as Luna and things are bound to get very interesting.

Belle has no doubt that Rick is her mate but she's not a push over and he's a little too full of himself for her taste. Besides her doctors are in Halle and therefore she'll be staying put for the time being - possibly until the pin in her leg can be removed. Rick's not willing to wait that long though, once the cast comes off he wants her with him - and it will still be another six months before she'll be able to shift.

Belle's all for starting her life at Rick's side but she's not at all ready to take on Gina and her demands for full protocol. Fortunately Belle isn't afraid to fight for what's hers and if that means taking on one conniving bitch then she'll use every means at her disposal to ensure that she comes out on top. Rick is aware of just how devious Gina is and he's willing to take whatever steps necessary to ensure that Belle's transition into the pack is as smooth as possible and that she be allowed to recuperate before facing Gina and her challenge. He shouldn't have worried. Even being unable to shift, Belle is more than capable of facing down Gina and she does it with such style that you'll be left with no doubt that this `cat' is far superior to the `dog.' Belle's the perfect match for Rick, but what will happen when Gina's plans push Rick and Belle into making decisions that could have disastrous results?

Just when I thought the HALLE PUMA series couldn't get any better, it does! STEEL BEAUTY is the fourth book in this delightful series and revisiting these characters is a pleasure you won't want to pass up. This story is infused with humor, some real kick butt action, a memorable romance and proof that cats and dogs can be friends - and so much more. Belle won me over with her `in your face' attitude and the hilarious way she taunts Gina - as well as Rick. She's not a gal who's going to let anyone get away with anything and I adore that about her. Rick is exactly the sort of man Belle needs, he's just got to learn to share problems and worries - and she is chock full of ways of ensuring that he doesn't forget that she is his life partner.

If you haven't read the other titles in this series, I'd highly recommend doing so - not because it's necessary to understand this book but because they're delightfully fun. In order, they are:
THE WALLFLOWER
SWEET DREAMS
and
CAT OF A DIFFERENT COLOR

Pulling the pin to get her future 5 May 2012

Book 4 of Bell's "Halle Pumas" series. Preceded by Cat of a Different Color. Followed by Only In My Dreams.
Books 4 and 5 are available as a paperback anthology Animal Attraction.

Plot:
Now pretty much healed, Belle is off to join her Mate in the Poconos. Will she find acceptance as a Puma in a Pack of Wolves?

Comments:
- Contemporary paranormal (shape shifting) SmallTown romance with explicit bedroom scenes.
- 2167 kindle locations, 25,969 words, but finishes around 1800 locations.
- m/f - explicit, reasonably frequent.
- Belle (Belinda) has made appearances in all the previous books. First, she was Olivia's backup babe. In Book 2 she was Max's wannabe Mate. And in Book 3 she is injured trying saving Sheri, the fount of all Blonde jokes, and finds her Mate while healing.
- As the fourth book in the series, "Steel Beauty" picks up as Book 3 concludes, with Rick wanting to take Belle home. The book proper begins in February, three months of PT later, and as she heads off to the Poconos to join her Mate and his Pack.
- Includes excerpts from Forsaken Talisman by Ashleigh Raine, Called by Blood by Evie Byrne, and Very Much Alive by Dana Marie Bell.
- There are two "free read"s available on the author's website giving us a little epilogue of Rick and Belle - "Little Red" and "'Twas a Coyote Christmas".
- The Poconos Pack have their own series. First book Finding Forgiveness is m/m and tells the story of Ben Malone (Marshall) and Dave Maldonado (Beta).

Opinion:
Another good, solid story in Bell's "Halle Pumas" series, linking the Pumas with her new series on the Poconos Pack. It's certainly interesting and opens a whole new avenue of shifter romances. Tossing in some telepathy and a holiday resort, it should make a good new series.

As far as "Steel Beauty" goes, it's a nice romance. Belle proves herself to be everything a Luna should be - strong, caring, intelligent - and Rick is a lovely Dominant Alpha with a loving streak. It is an easy paranormal romance with explicit bedroom scenes and a HEA. It fits well into the series.

"Little Red":
When Rick finds the costume Belle left him for the Halloween party, he's just about ready to kill her. But when he saw her, and the additional goodies, he knew this would be a very memorable party.
A little story emphasising the joy in Bell's stories, especially once we have our HEA with caring, happy, respectful, loving h and H. It's sweet, erotic, and very original. Definitely worth a look.

"'Twas a Coyote Christmas":
Rick tells Belle a Christmas story to ease her pain.
Sometimes an author just wants to pop in on her characters and give her readers a little smile - and that's exactly what this is. There's nothing too it except maybe a little introduction to some of the characters in future Poconos books. But that's okay. it's a few pages to make you smile.

I've read all the Halle Puma books and this one was no exception. Dana Marie Bell is a fantastic shifter romance novelist.

Oh, sure. Laugh. Some sick sadist slaps boiling wax on your nether regions, sops it up with a strip of cloth, and then just rips it off without a care in the world. And while youre lying there, screaming in pain and threatening their lives, the sadist takes out the tweezers to clean you up while they tell you to suck it up and take it like a woman. "e;
