So, does anybody know which of the stealth cars is available with this pre-order? Before people say "all of them", that's not quite true. You only get all 11 Chrome Line and stealth cars if you order the Signature Edition.
All of them... My understanding is all 6 of the stealth cars are available to everyone who pre-orders the special editions, and the standard edition will feature 2 of these cars depending upon which retailer you pre-order from. Chrome Line are exclusive to signature and collector's editions. If I'm corrected about this I'll cancel my order for the collector's edition. **sorry for the edits, lots of contradictory information depending on which sites you visit**
http://www.incgamers.com/News/24377/gran-turismo-5-special-editions-revealed." The Stealth vehicles that will be included in the Signature edition will also be available for free through the PSN for everyone who pre-orders the game."
or http://electronictheatre.co.uk/index.php/playstation3/playstation3-news/5455-gran-turismo-5-special-editions-revealed "The Gran Turismo 5 Collector's Edition includes the same set of five Chrome Line vehicles... Additionally to the special editions of the game, those who pre-order will receive six cars that will be available in those countries with PlayStation Store."
The standard edition will come with two of the stealth cars if you pre-order on Amazon. The product page has been updated "Pre-order Bonus: Two "Stealth Range" Cars - Maxda 787b and McClaren F1. "
The collector's edition product info has been updated and there is no mention of the stealth cars. The EU Playstation blog suggests you will only receive one of the stealth cars with the collector's edition.
I read that post on the EU blog too. I for one am not hugely bothered if I don't get all six as I won't use them for anything other than free driving (I don't want to have any advantages for the actual career mode), but I would like at least the GT500 GTR or the R10. In fact the only reason I'd cancel my preorder here and look elsewhere is if you only get the F1 or SLS. In any case, some clarification would be great, and I haven't seen any info on specific stealth cars on any site; in fact I haven't seen the Collector's Edition available for preorder anywhere other than here so far.
As it stands, I'll just purchase the standard edition. All six Stealth cars would be the only thing worth paying extra for, play.com actually states re the Stealth cars "Cars may be made available as DLC through PSN at a later date."
Just emailed amazon to see if they can clarify this as there is no mention of the stealth cars on the collectors edition page. Was going to email play but they don't appear to have an email address! Will post back here if I get a response.
Here's the response I got within a few hours.... pretty useless - especially the part that says "Currently we could not confirm anything, we can confirm about this item after this has listed as in-stock." So if they can't confirm anything about a pre-order bonus until it's in stock, then it won't be a pre-order bonus anymore??
Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk with your enquiry.
I understand that you are interested to pre-order the item "Gran Turismo 5 Collectors Edition (PS3)", so you need to confirm whether this collectors edition comes with the 2 'stealth' cars.
After looking into your enquiry I found that the item "Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)" comes with two 'Stealth' cars but the Collectors edition do not have any further information on this 'stealth' cars on our website.
You can view the clear information of Stealth for the item "Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)", using the link below:
I am sorry that there is no further information available, other than that described on the detail page on our website for this product "Gran Turismo 5 Collectors Edition (PS3)" as this item is not in-stock and listed as 'This item will be released on November 2, 2010'.
Currently we could not confirm anything, we can confirm about this item after this has listed as in-stock.
My guess is that Sony have yet to finalise the stealth cars thing, otherwise I'm sure Play and Amazon wouldn't keep it so quiet, they are an incentive to preorder the game after all. I'm sure we just have to wait and see, the game isn't out for about three months yet so there's plenty of time for these things to be sorted out and announced. Thanks for going to the effort of posting the response here, that's pretty much convinced me all there is to do now is wait... Seems to be what GT5 is all about, after all!
It would seem that the CE version does not have any pre-order incentive other than the ChromeLine cars that are part of that pack anyway.
To be honest, both packs of cars will eventually get made avaiable for unlocking, stealth being free possibly, and chromeline being paid DLC. If you can hold out and make do with the 1000 cars in the game, getting the standard version now followed by the DLC later on is your best bet.
True, there's so much to do in this game that I'm not going to worry that a few cars are only available by purchasing the signature edition. And, as you say, no doubt they'll be available as DLC anyway.
Neema, if you have GT PSP you can download a limited edition red SLS for free ( along with 4 other cars). Once you have GT5, there is an option to transfer your PSP game data to the PS3 game unlocking your PSP garage on the main game. (Hence I've been frantically playing GT PSP to build up as many cars as I can). I don't know about the F1 though.
Anyway the GT website has this to say: "What's more if you pre-order your Standard or Collector's Edition you also might be lucky enough to get hold of one of a selection of exclusive in-game vehicles including the Audi R10 TDI Stealth Model, Nissan GT-R GT500 Stealth Model, Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model, Mazda 787B Stealth Model, McLaren F1 Stealth Model, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Stealth Model." So by the looks of it, you'll get one of them at random. The PSP game awarded you a car in your garage to get you started which was from a random selection you had no control over.
The way I see it, Polyphony will make a lot of money on allowing people to buy cars as DLC so it wouldn't surprise me if they started selling more and more cars as DLC for those who can't be bother to acquire them in the game through normal means or who didn't previously buy them as part of their edition of GT5.
"it wouldn't surprise me if they started selling more and more cars as DLC for those who can't be bother to acquire them in the game"
Dude, I hope this is'nt the case. I personally went for the top end version of the game because GT is my favorite series and i've loved every game (even geneva concept...what?, it was worth 30quid :?). I have no doubt that the stelth cars will be difficult to unlock and so I dont see the people who only have access to 1 or 2 missing out on much.
I'm also pretty undecided as to DLC, iv'e never been a fan of it as it makes it too easy for devs to exploit fans wallets. Mass Effect is a classic example where they have half finished a game and made the player pay for the extra characters and missions they cut from the original release (liara t'soni's story!?). The only place I can see them releasing new content is in the form of new Premium cars, there are only 200 and I'd bet PD would have preferred to make all the cars premium in the first place, and tbh I think I would shell out for the latest hypercar in premium build, or the latest winner at le mans.
The way I see it, DLC is almost certain. Sony have demonstrated a few times that they love DLC, I mean look at LittleBigPlanet for example. GT5 is the perfect platform for DLC, just as Forza 3 was, though I'm sure any cars they add would be premium models as it's only really cars that were in GT4 that are standard now, any new ones are premium. Personally I'm all for DLC because at the end of the day, it's optional and although some developers do abuse it, Sony's first party games don't. Uncharted 2, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 are other examples, the games weren't deliberately unfinished at launch like some other games are, like Resident Evil 5; within a week there was a very small (like one or two MB) download to unlock the Versus mode which means it was already on the disc, but they wanted to charge you extra for it. I fully believe the GT5 DLC will be the usual driving game stuff, new cars and tracks (and possibly premium car conversions), which will help keep the game up to date until GT6, but won't be essential.
Personally I'm not expecting any of the stealth cars to be given away as a bonus to people who pre-order the Collector's edition. To me this seems rather unfair / tight given that you are paying significantly more than the Standard edition, but I think I understand the reason behind this.
As Amazon and Play have UK exclusive deals to sell the Collectors edition, they already have 50% market share. Therefore, there is less incentive for them to offer a bonus to people who pre-order the Collector's edition.
On the other hand the Standard edition of GT5 will be available everywhere, hence the need for retailers to try and gain market share by offering a pre-order bonus. Amazon, Play and HMV all have a different pairs of stealth cars to try and encourage people to purchase from them in preference to each other and other retailers.
Hello everybody! Good news guys, the stealth cars (two of them) will be offered if ordering the Collectors Edition. After some exchange of mails with the customer service of Amazon.co.uk, the Custumers Escalation Team finally confirmed me today that the Collectors Edition includes the code to get the stealth cars.

I got an email from Amazon at 7:30 last night (22nd Nov) to state that my order for GT5 collectors edition has been shipped and will be here (all being well) tomorrow (24th Nov)!! IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The link above does not work for me. I got my pre-ordered collectors edition today, from Amazon, and have only found one voucher code which is for the 5 collectors edition "Chromeline" cars & a dynamic XMB theme. I entered the code and got those 5 Chromeline cars and the XMB theme, but I can't find any voucher code from Amazon, or relating to the two Stealth cars I was expecting to get.
*EDIT* Nevermind, I eventually found out you get sent each code for the two stealth cars, via email, on the day of the release. Still waiting for mine but can take up to 24 hours apparently.
