Rocking American Blues? Yes indeed.
There is an happy blues song, and there is a mad blues song, and there is a raw, though slide blues song, and you'll find a mean blues song, a fun blues song, a serious blues song, an american dream blues song. People, this album shows many styles of traditional blues, without sounding like repeating others. And again, Guy Forsyth shows he's an excellent singer. Go see him live when he's in the neighbourhood, and you will see and hear a true perfromer.
13 nice songs, but have to nice the last four one's of Steka aren't that strong as the first nine ones.
A happy blues cover of 'Mona' , Forsyth has given his own view of and style into that song. Folloewed by a mad blues song called 'Mad'. And yes, Guy is singing like he is really mad. Followed by a excellent, traditional slide blues cover of Muddy Waters 'Louisiana Blues' with a true and great, slide solo ending of the song.
The evil "Tricks of the trade" with loud, but clear singing Forsyth, playing rough on his harp, with the nice message "why should I work hard? I can get you to work for me. You can go sweat and strain. Boss man rides 'round in luxury." Isn't this where the blues is about? And a song about the cadillac: the american dream blues song.
It's rocking American blues, but surely no rockblues!
Hungry? Go get Steak!
