Does as it's meant to and is the genuine brand. Be aware that the magnets are quite strong and will attract any metal objects the cat brushes passed. In just one hour our one cat had 5 hair clips stuck to her collar, I dread to think what's next! Having 2 cats I'm just waiting to see them get stuck together ;) They're not too strong that they won't be able to pull away, but it might give them a bit of a shock initially. I'm happy with the product overall though.
