Product Description

We need this wonderful book so badly! It is even clearer and more helpful than its predecessor (Harold Kushner )

Their book has a rare commonsense and realism; its examples and anecdotes and snatches of talk and dialogue, whether real or imagined, are representative and it doesn't work it ought to (Observer )

4.0 out of 5 stars Helped Me 29 Mar. 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
A follow up book to I'm Ok, You're Ok, which I feel is more useful if you are looking for some specific advice and guidance on how to use transactional analysis. I found some of the hints and tips really powerful and helpful to me in over coming a difficult situation at work. The whole Transactional Analysis methodology has been particularly useful to me. Understanding my own reaction to others and why people behave as they do. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book that will change your life for ever! 31 Mar. 1999
By A Customer
Have you ever heard that U2 song where he sings, "I still haven't found what i'm looking for..." This book reveals the key: The Master Key. It is what I have been searching for all of my adult life (now 24). I have always been driven to progress myself, but alot of techniques for self-improvement sound good in principle but in practice are hard to implement. This book introduces the reader to a concept or philosophy known as Transactional Analysis (TA). It is much simpler than it sounds. The power of TA is in it's simplicity. Once you have grasped the concept you will find uses for it every day. My life is changing radically each day as I think about the concept. I can't recommend this book and TA in general enough. (if i had a pound coin for every person i recommended this book to....) If anyone would like to discuss TA with me please do so:

I did seven months transactional analysis rehab for addition problems spanning over twenty yrs. Staying OK is a good tool for maintaining my sobriety of five yrs.
It has increased my self awareness, no bad thing. I find it easier to practise responding rather than reacting on old buried messages. I am altogether a more present person, so enjoy life much more. Not solely due to the book but the whole process

4.0 out of 5 stars A good follow up 15 Mar. 2012
I bought this book to follow on from I'm ok-You're ok. Both are good but quite complex and I don't think necessarily the best introduction to T.A. For the general reader, the authors assume quite a high level of understanding and intelligence. A lot of solid information, but quite heavy going at times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great follow on 2 Jun. 2010
This provides an excellent sequel to the first. I think anyone managing people at higher levels can use this for a good purpose and physically see the anarchy that people go through and not realising the how easy communication can be. It has provided excellent conversation with colleagues, friends and my partner and I have recommend it to co managers within my field of work. For any teachers or people dealing with students - once you have read the first you must read this. You can have a lot of fun with it but it's also an invaluable tools for certain problematic situations. And on a personal I have found it useful for reflection and improving myself and my own methods of communication and personal practice. Excellent and fascinating to sum it all up!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Some useful ideas 7 Oct. 2003
By A Customer
I found this book a bit hard going but more up to date than I'm OK, You're OK. There were some useful ideas and clear examples but I don't think it's a book I would care to read a second time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good 21 Dec. 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This review is in comparison to "Im okay, your okay" It is a great followup.
Funny, insightful, interesting, many tips, much to think about. And things you can relate to in daily life.
But there is almost too much advice to soak in. Gets abit confusing.
So i get the feeling it should be named "staying perfect" instead, and you cannot be perfect.
I will definently read this again sometime. As someone mentioned. You pick up so many things, from daily life situations.
