A fascinating history of chess in London, 9 Jun 2004
This review is from: Staunton's City: Chess in London and Simpson's-in-the-Strand (Paperback)
I only found this book by mistake - when researching Howard Staunton - but it's a great addition to my chess library.
The book, published in 2004, is a history of the significant chess events that have taken place in London (Staunton's City).
A nice helping of anecdotes, scholarly research and annotated games contested by Philidor, Labourdonnais, Staunton, Morphy, Marshall, Lasker, Steinitz, Karpov, Kasparov - all of whom have played in England's capital.
The cover has a fantastic colour illustration of Staunton and adds greatly to this excellent work.
