A superb insight into status dogs and London gang life by the author who has walked the walk and talked the talk!

When Justin emailed me directly and offered to send me a signed review copy of his novel 'Status Dog's & Gangs' I was a mixture of both intrigued and excited. I have now read the book fully and was glued from the first page and am thankful to Justin for giving me a true insight into the gritty reality of what was once his world.
Justin, by his own admission was a member of the London gang culture and this insightful, gritty book delves into the underbelly of what life is really like for these disenchanted youths. He allows you to imagine what it is like to be young, unloved, frightened and uncared for, purely because of your culture and your postcode. People can be cruel and judgmental, life can be unfair and sometimes the addition of a status dog can make a frightened boy feel like a man, and a man that fits in at least somewhere. This book makes it abundantly clear to the reader that these kids are not born bad, but that society can oftentimes make them bad. Dogs of any breed can be dangerous in the wrong hands and Justin gives some brilliant alternative ideas about what the dangerous dogs act 'should cover' and why. The book covers life in a London gang, why kids get these 'status dogs' and how most of these kids feel they have no future to look forward to. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it and now have a deeper insight into the minds and motivations of guys like Justin.
I take my hat off to Justin for bucking the trend! stepping up and away and turning his back on gang life and working his socks off to build a better and brighter future for himself by writing this book - a book I feel has helped Justin bury his ghosts whilst at the same time serving as a stark warning to other teens and their parents.
I shall be keeping my 'author signed copy' on my bookcase and I hope Justin and his writing career goes from strength to strength. I intend to watch this space and I recommend YOU buy his book.
Well done Justin, keep up the hard work, Charlene x
