First beware: this book is introductory and is targeted towards those whose background does not cover a fair amount of calculus. Therefore if you are comfortable with calculus and following a bunch of formulas and assumptions expressed in math, and that is exactly what you want to do, go for other statistics books crafted towards engineers.
I am also an engineer and I wanted to get a grasp of the simple logic behind statistics and data analysis, and the narrative in this book presented an "easy reading". Although the formulas and methods might not help when reading some advanced books (I went on to reading simulation after this after reviewing another book crafted towards engineers), the insight remains and it gets easier to see the connections behind the formulas and various assumptions.
