one of JEW's earlier releases and one of the best. Each and every song is packed to the point of overflowing with emotion, heart, energy and takes no prisoners. A personal favourite of mine is the 7 minute epic "Digits". It has been written like a symphony with different movements; each with differing tempo and sound. The listener is introduced to a sublime, mellow guitar riff which gradually develops into delicately constructed arpeggios. The main body of the piece kicks in suddenly with screaming lyrics and up beat punk-esque drums and then winds down to bring your ears back down to earth only to then roll out with the next blinding track. If your after acoustic, relaxed melodies then this isn't for you. This is emo music personified and is inspiring for any hopeful, budding guitarists.

Gems like "Rockstar" and "Cavemen" remind you of the passion and quality of this band. I cannot find one bad song on this album - each time you listen you crave for more. This CD hasn't left my walkman since i bought it. If like me you've bought Bleed American and thought it was great but wanted more, this is the perfect accompianiment. I simply cant stress the quality of this album enough. Buy it and be enlightened

This was the last of Jimmy's three big albums that I purchased, and the last I came to love. It takes time and special care to appreicate this one, but when it hits you, it hits you. Jimmy Eat World just can't be put into a genre, and this, like all their other CDs, proves that. It is enthralling and everlasting in your mind.

Having done the same as most of the people who have bought this album (i.e bought Bleed American first) I was torn between Static Prevails and Clarity for my next purchase.
I chose Static Prevails, and I wasn't disappointed. Initially, I was a little apprehensive, as it seems that they've since switched Jim Adkins from backing vocalist on Static Prevails to Lead singer on Bleed American, which seems to have been a great idea.
From the heady opener, Thinking, that's all, you know you're in for a varied ride, and track 2, the sublime Rockstar will literally blow you away with its combination of melodies and raw energy. From here, it's something different each track. There are a couple of tracks that don't compete with the rest, (Episode IV and Digits in particular) but what album doesn't have these?
Jimmy Eat World have a wealth of diversity at their feet, and If they keep their heads, and don't do anything stupid with their next album, it's a dead cert they'll have the musical world at their feet.
