After being urged to watch this by a close friend, I went into the film knowing very little about it, other than it supposedly being very good.
All I can say is wow!

**This review is for the film only**

The plot is fairly simple, this is a home invasion film a bit like "The Strangers" "Funny Games" and "The Purge" It is about a couple who have just lost their 3-year-old son to a drowning accident. During their grief, they are awoken early in the morning by a panicked young woman banging on their door, she claims that she is being chased buy strange men wearing gas masks, so the couple let her in and try to phone the police. Shortly after, the strange mask wearing men break into the couples house and carry away the terrified young woman, before turning their attentions to the grieving couple. A long nights fight for survival ensues and every-time the mask wearing men are nearby, a strange static noise seems to follow them.

The premise of this film has been done so many times before but none so as effective as this. It is worth watching very closely as the brilliant twist at the end reveals all of the little hints and clues that the film gives you throughout.

The film is well shot, well acted and is as tense as you can get.
The main villains, wearing weird looking gas masks, never speak and are just plain creepy.

Of the 3 films I likened it to earlier, The Strangers I did like but the ending was terrible and ruined the whole film for me, Funny Games was pretty good and The Purge (to say what a huge smash hit it has been) was majorly disappointing. This film which seems to have quietly slipped under most peoples radar, is better than all 3 of these others put together.

This is an extremely gripping, disturbing, and wonderfully effective horror.
A very attractive, thirty-something couple, Jonathan and Adie, are coming to terms with the tragic death of their three year old son, who has drowned. Jonathan is a highly successful writer, which enables the couple to live in a huge country house, set in acres of land, with various outbuildings. Adie is on meds, either tranquillisers or anti-depressants, which she mixes with alcohol.
Late one night, a young, blonde lady arrives on their doorstep in a panic. Her name is Rachel, and she says that's she's being pursued by men in gas-masks. Before long, the masked men arrive at the house, take Rachel by force, and go in pursuit of the couple. Jonathan and Adie flee through the myriad rooms and corridors of the mansion, and to and from the outbuildings, always just one step ahead of the home invaders. All of this action is unbearably tense and nerve shredding.
As the masked men move about, they're always accompanied by a highly un-nerving background noise of static. The film score itself is minimalistic, and this adds to the film, because the tension is so palpable, that there's no need for clichéd dramatic music to stir up the viewer's emotions.
The actors who play Jonathan and Adie give brilliant, moving performances. Their characters are utterly convincing. You care about their fates, which means that you can't look away from the screen. Rachel's role is pivotal to the film's story, and her character too is entirely credible. The shock-effect of the intruders is brilliantly executed - these are no pantomime villains giving hammy performances, they are genuinely menacing.
I've made no comment about the final half hour of this movie (the twist in the tale is stunning).

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started watching this movie I thought it was going to be a home invasion movie but it's way more complicated than that. Check this movie out.

Some of you might find it predictable for those with more experience of watching horror film but still enjoyed it. I might never rent it, let alone heard of the film but it's shame to miss it while it's available to watch instant...considering the majority of the instant films are not that brilliant that we have to rent them from Amazon esp those sought after most recent titles.

I really like this film. It has a vary varied rating and that made me curious. If you love a twist, you'll enjoy this film. I think the ending was great but could have been even better without saying too much, still, definitely worth a watch!

Although I guessed the end, it was so beautifully acted, and directed I loved it. Suspenseful and poignant; a mixture of Thriller, Horror, Action and Drama - wonderful!
