Product Description

Author's Note:  The Pug Connor series is available as part of the Rebellion Trilogy in Kindle format at Amazon with a discount price below the three separate novels.

STATE OF REBELLION:  A runaway federal government!  Western states in revolt!  Martial law in Sacramento!  America in a State of Rebellion!

"Had the gallows knot been placed to the side, behind the ear,Richard McFarland's neck would have snapped, delivering a swift death. As it was, the young California National Guard lieutenant twisted and convulsed for a long, agonizing two minutes before he died."

California is on the brink of secession, and those who oppose this drastic political maneuver are turning up dead. Federal Agent Nicole Bentley is sent to discover what she can about the movement and meets up with Assemblyman and National Guard JAG officer Daniel Rawlings, a man whose commitment to his country runs deep in his blood.  Resisting their mutual attraction, they uncover a plot devised by greedy men bent on taking power at any cost.

As Colonel Pug Connor, working under the direction of the President of the United States, seeks to root out the leaders of the Western Patriot Movement--a military cadre with a chip on its shoulder--Nicole and Dan find themselves literally in the crossfire. Can they end the dispute between the various factions before they all end up martyrs for the cause?

A fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat political thriller, State of Rebellion will keep you turning pages long into the night.

UNCIVIL LIBERTIES:  A new president!  A hijacked civilian airliner!  Eight minutes to decide!  Domestic terrorism brings America to a state of Uncivil Liberties!

"Shoot down a civilian airliner? That's not an option, Admiral."

"I'm sorry, Mr. President, but I believe it's your only option."

Moments after taking office, United States president Clay Cumberland faces a decision no one should have to make, and a civilian airliner is shot down to protect the American people from a new wave of domestic terrorism.  Fearing the loss of countless more lives, Colonel Pug Connor plunges into the fray, determined to root out the terrorists and bring peace back to the country he loves and has sworn to defend.  He finds a welcome ally--and a personal interest--in Senator Rachel McKenzie, a woman who feels the call to patriotism just as strongly. But when the terrorists are Americans themselves, determined to bring the nation into subjugation, Pug faces his biggest challenge of all, with stakes higher than ever.

Uncivil Liberties, the second of the Pug Connor novels, continues the war against domestic terrorism and takes the reader on a breath-taking ride from the very first page.

TO FAITHFULLY EXECUTE:  Election Day is looming and the fate of a united America lies in the hands of its citizens.  States are threatening to secede, politicians have their own agendas, and as rumors of treason rumble throughout the land, Pug Connor has a decision to make.  He can continue to serve the country he loves and watch it break apart, or he can take matters into his own hands and change the course of history. He hates the man he is forced to become, but with stakes this high, he forges on, regardless the cost.  His growing love for Senator Rachel McKenzie--and his fear regarding the possible loss of her respect--make his decisions much harder.

Pug's deputy director, Carlos Castro, faces no such conflict. He fully understands his nature: he is a stone-cold, instinctive killer, single-handedly seeking to rid the world of evil one terrorist at a time.

To Faithfully Execute questions the right of the government to interfere in the lives of citizens and asks, what would you do to preserve your freedom when it's threatened? The answer will surprise you as Gordon Ryan presents the third installment in the Pug Connor series.

BLOOD & TREASURE:  The fourth volume of the dynamic Pug Connor series will be out early in 2012.

More About the Author

GORDON W. RYAN (www.gordonryan.com) was a Recon Marine in the aftermath of the Cuban missile crises. He served in Bangkok with the Air Force during Vietnam, and at the American Embassy in Dublin, Ireland, during the violent 70's. He has also lived in England, stationed near RAF Lakenheath.

State of Rebellion, Gordon Ryan's latest military political thriller, is Book One of the new Pug Connor novels. Book Two, Uncivil Liberties, was released in October, 2010. Look for them from Amazon, Amazon UK, Kindle, and in multiple e-book formatting.

Ryan wrote his first novel, Dangerous Legacy, in 1993. The publisher then accepted a novella, Threads of Honor, and signed a contract for three volumes of historical fiction entitled Spirit of Union. Threads of Honor went to #1 on the regional list for six weeks in 1996. In 1997, Spirit of Union: Destiny 1895-1898, jumped to the top ten on the publisher's regional list. Volume II, Conflict, and III, Heritage, also made the regional bestseller list

Ryan has continued to publish historical fiction and military political thrillers, as a traditionally published author and also as an "Indie." With his recent release, State of Rebellion, a story of illegal immigration, election fraud and the potential secession of California, in both softbound and Kindle. State of Rebellion is the first volume of the Pug Connor novels, depicting an America far removed from the concept of the Founding Fathers.

In addition to these new releases, Ryan has recently added his previous novels to the Kindle Store. He is one of a limited number of Amazon's premier LDS (Mormon) novelists. For LDS standard publications by Ryan, select Kindle books and use the tag "LDS Ryan" to search the Amazon inventory.

Ryan also writes for the national market without an LDS theme in his narrative. For those who love to read dynamic thriller authors such as Tom Clancy, W.E.B. Griffin, Vince Flynn, Dale Brown, and Patrick Robinson, Ryan's novels should be quite satisfying.

Ryan has served as Chief Executive Officer or City Manager in multiple American and international communities including New Zealand. An accomplished public speaker, he frequently accepts invitations for public presentations.

Born in New York City, Ryan holds a Bachelors degree with Honors in Political Science and has completed graduate work in Public Administration. After living and working in many states including Alaska, and internationally in Norway, England, Ireland, Thailand, Taiwan, and New Zealand, Ryan now writes full-time. Together with his wife, Colleen, they spend their time between the American northwest and the beautiful South Pacific.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating 31 Jan 2011
By Kysira
Format:Kindle Edition
This is not the type of book I normally read, but I decided to give it a go and I was very pleasantly surprised. While the book is quite long, which means it feels like you are not making any progress if you don't have much time to read, I was never tempted to put it down and start something else. The author succeeded in making me want to find out what is going to happen to California and to all the characters that are introduced in enough detail to be memorable. I will definitely keep this series on my "to read" list.

The book is well formatted and edited, but one little thing - it would be really nice to have chapter breaks added so you can skip back and forth between them.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Surprisingly good read 23 Jan 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Again like others I received this book direct from the author on the promise of wringing a review once I had read it.

Ordinarily I dont think that I would have chosen this book, but that said I found the book quite enjoyable.

Pug Connor from the title is not the main protagonist so I struggled a little bit why it is a Pug Connor Novel...but this may change in the following book. Ignoring that the story I found quite gripping and didn't get too bogged down in the politics of the secession of California but gave you enough to understand what would be going on.

Also I quite like that none of the characters appeared to be a Rambo type who can escape all sorts of situations unscathed.

As mentioned in a previous review there was one section in London that was wrong due to a crash into a Fire Hydrant (Of the american sort) that London doesn't have....and that for me is really the biggest disappointment, which is to be honest quite minor.

The formatting and spellining the book were pretty good (One of the best I have read so far) only came across a couple of spelling mistakes.

Overall I enjoyed the book and will be buying the next one.

I have dropped a star as Pug isn't a main character and the London situaton. Other than that I would recommend this book

Edited to fix some of my awful spelling :-)

3.0 out of 5 stars A good read. 26 Jan 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
A well written plot, which is well paced, and keeps you 'biting at the bit' for more, hence can sometimes be difficult to drag yourslef away. Thoroughly enjoyable, with one slight problem, being in the UK found a lot of the cultural references hard to follow, but that will probably develop with experience. Just because its outside the realms of one's normal kingdom, shouldn't deter from any reader, definately worth the experience.

3.0 out of 5 stars An honest review for a free book 22 Jan 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
As indicated in the title of this review, I received a copy of the book for free, in return for a review.

I have given three stars, as I thought that the book was well written, and a good overall book, but not one that I personally would read again.

Coming from the UK, I found the book quite complicated to understand, in its descriptions of national and state government, as I am unfamiliar with the set up. Just when I thought I had a handle on what was going on, the character of Pug was introduced, and a whole new plot line and set of occurences began to develop, and that was one too far for me!

It is quite a long book, and on a few occasions I debated whether to stop reading it, and may have done had I not agreed to review it.

I'm sure that this book will appeal to many, but it was too politically complicated, and US centred for me.

Thanks anyway for the free book, and a chance to broaden my horizons!

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good! 18 Jan 2011
By Lesley
Format:Kindle Edition
I say 'surprisingly', because this is not usually the type of book I enjoy - politics and particularly American politics. However, this book was an adventure book - very fast-paced and interesting to read. At the same time, however, the scenario is one that could well have a lot of truth in it.

As someone who cringes at some of the typos, punctuation mistakes and strange expressions that appear sometimes on Kindle versions, I loved the sheer professionalism of the presentation. See, if Gordon Ryan can do it, so can others!

I also received this book for free, for a warts and all review. However, I haven't found any warts, and I will definitely read more from this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting political read 16 Jan 2011
By TopCat
Format:Kindle Edition
This book was provided by the author to a number of users on the Amazon forums in return for honest reviews. When I read the synopsis it struck me as the type of book I would enjoy so onto my kindle it went.

The basic premise of the book is that there are shadowy forces at work in the state of California who, for their own means, want the the state to secede and become a republic. They are in the background manipulating events to their own ends. The idea of secession has struck a note with various militia organisations and indeed a section of the public who has had enough with what is seen as ever-increasing federal interference. A series of crimes take place, all carefully planned to advance the cause.

The character of the title isn't the main character in this book, but he does play a key role and the book has set up his background and credentials for the next in the series. Instead the main protagonist is Dan Rawlings, an administrator and novelist who finds himself struggling to choose between his loyalties to the USA and to California. I thought the main characters were well drawn and I empathised with Dan for what we are told he has been through and what he goes through in the book. I don't know if he will make an appearance in further books but I hope so.

I would describe this more as a political intrigue than a thriller or action novel. I found the idea that this could potentially happen intriguing and despite feeling there was something of a lull in the middle of the book was hooked by all the twists and turns the events took.

I have a couple of criticisms though. Firstly there are a lot of acronyms used, especially in relation to military terms. I expect to an American reader they would probably be obvious but no so to me.
