I have watched and read many books and documentaries about Jimi Hendrix. I have heard countless people offer their opinions and observations about him but, only by reading this book, did I get a sense of his internal life -- his unwavering devotion to music, his belief that music was a vehicle for social, political and spiritual change, his Electric Church. It's one thing to be told by a former girlfriend or band member that "Jimi was trying to change directions" but it's a far richer experience to stay with Jimi as he remained true to his vision in the face of pressures from his manager, record company and audiences. After reading it, small details stayed in my mind for days. If you want to get inside Jimi's head, then listen to his music and read this book.

I've read many books on Hendrix, looked at from many angles, however this book with words and lyrics from The Man himself surpasses all of them. Really refreshing to read Jimis' own thoughts on things and not just a rehash of previous material.

Reading it, you can tell from the layout that the creators have laid out the book superbly. Some great touches like drawn images of Jimi, or the way some of lyrics to a song written by Jimi are shown. It really does make this book extra special.

I would advise, if you're new to reading anything about Jimi's life, or you don't really know about his life. I would recommend a read of 'Room Full of Mirrors' by Charles R. Cross, before picking up this book. That would prepare you for this.

This book is very special, it is the closest you get to read an autobiography from Jimi. Do read!
