With a Netbook that did not have an eSATA connector(it has only USB ports) and an external disk drive that only had an eSATA connector, how could I transfer a file from the external drive to the Netbook?
The Startech USB 2.0 to eSATA adapter is easy to set up (assuming you have an eSATA to eSATA cable and you probably will if you are in the same scenario as described above) and it performs admirably.
Files can be transferred easily and quickly in both directions.
Can recommend highly.

Amazon Verified Purchase
I use this along with my Magic Bridge. Where I bridge a SATA HDD the output on the unit is only E-SATA and supplied with a E-SATA to E-SATA cable. As most people do not have an E-SATA port this cleaver little unit really helps!
I plug my E-SATA cable into it from my Bridge and into any PC and it connects, no hassle.
The only gripe I have with this unit is that it is ever so slightly bulkier than I think it needs to be.
All in all, very pleased with the product and would recommend to all!

The first item did not work, however the seller sent a replacement very quickly. The second one is working fine. After breaking the USB port on the external drive, I'm lucky that it had the e-Sata port and now I would not have to put it in another enclosure because of this mega cheap adapter. Very pleased.

Backwards towards compatability
This is a Godsend for PC's without E-Sata connecctions!It works well and comes with a driver diskette ,although you may get automatic drivers from windows as I did. Read more
