Product Description

Product Description
Starships Unlimited: Divided Galaxies is an SF-based, classic "4X" (explore, exploit, expand, exterminate) game, offering players an infinite variety of gameplay through the player-defined variables as each new game is set up. Players design their starships for different tasks, then begin exploring the galaxy; using the alien artefacts that are discovered to support research efforts will give an advantage in the "space race" to outmanoeuvre and outwit your opponents. If your military might is not enough, you can use diplomacy and espionage to achieve total domination and unite the Divided Galaxies under your control.

2.0 out of 5 stars Starships Limited: A Few Galaxies, 4 Aug 2003
By Mr. A. Turnbull (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
There are certainly starships in this game, so if that's all you're expecting then this is the perfect game for you!

However.........

The fact that although the little starships on your screen may look slightly different from one race to another, they ARE ALL THE SAME. There's a lot of research to be done to make your ships better equipped to, um....fight other ships...Research also helps your planet be better equipped to build...er...ships and to defend against attacks from starships. All this 'fun' is about the only thing that's 'unlimited'. Great! For a week.......

2.0 out of 5 stars Rookie game developers r us, 22 Jul 2005
This looks like it came straight from a rookie developer's bedroom. Packed full of what looks like free images from a 'Developing My First Game' book, this space strategy is lacking in the graphics, game-play, atmosphere and music departments.

Essentially its the old find planet, build up credits, buy ships and find more planets strategy game, without the little details that make other games interesting to play over long periods.

If you've never played a space simulation game, nor seen graphics based on anything since DirectX6, then you may find this game dull... I'd give it 1 star if I could, but nothing beats 'Mission Humanity' which I think was dire even for its release date.

Many other better budget games in this genre. If you've never played a space strategy before, play 'Imperium Galactica' or if you have more money 'Imperium Galactica II' or even 'Galactic Civilizations'

1.0 out of 5 stars £1.75+PP is too much to ask, 7 Sep 2007
Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
My time isn't totaly worthless, so I wont waste it writing an in-depth review of this 'game'.

Right now, gamer, you can do two things: You can either buy this game, like I did, be disapointed and spend 30 seconds writing a damning review on it (and wishing you could take a shot at one of the other reviewers) or you can keep that 2 quid, and next time your down the pub buy a drink, sit down and relax. Truly, this could only be worse if it spat acid in your face while you play.

I could have made a better game with Visual Basic.

Avoid like the plague.
