2.0 out of 5 stars So bad it ceases to be funny 6 May 2013
So, for the first 5 or so episodes, it's just about bad enough to laugh at - love some of the 3D visual effects where the characters look like cardboard cutouts... instead of that just being their personality. Those that have one.

Such a large cast with so little focus means you barely get to know, or more importantly, care about many of the characters.

My friends and I did admittedly watch it in one sitting... but I don't think we would have wanted to continue, had we stopped.

It had a lot of potential, but for us it totally failed in delivering on that potential.

As you can perhaps tell, I wouldn't much recommend this anime :P

4.0 out of 5 stars WILL ALWAYS HAVE YOU WANTING MORE!!! 6 Jan 2012
This is a great anime I do so recommed it especailly those who love sc fi. The battles are the best part of the this show I never get sick of watching them. The opening and closing tracks are great songs and the tunes can get into your head. This differs from the normal girls in space or space opera type anime in my opinion because of the reality show element of it. It did make think how that any subject can become reality television even life and death.

This show is very well dubbed and all of use who view anime know that bad dubbing can really ruin it for you. Starship operators is a extremely well deatiled visually and each time I see it I notice things I did not notice before.

However all the episodes are very fast paced so there some characters who names I don't know even after seeing them so many times. And because it is only 13 episodes long there not a great deal of character development. With the exception perhaps being Shino since we follow her throught out the show and we do view it a great deal from her point view. This anime does really makes you want more, everytime I get to the end of episode 13 I want to want know what happened next. And that is why I can't give this anime 5 stars no matter how much I love it because it leaves me wanting more.
