Product Description

The Earth is invaded and conquered in a day, but survivors remain scattered around the globe. Hidden in the smoking cinders of civilization, the human resistance waits for their chance to strike back, to overcome their exterminators, and to triumphantly rise again. But the origins of this war are far older and stranger than anyone could have guessed...

This is the world of the Biotech Legacy.

Marcus Donovan, an eccentric astronomer with a penchant for the weird, makes a groundbreaking discovery and heads off into the darkness of space to investigate. What he finds will rock his understanding of mankind and transform his life forever.

Jack Hernandez is an everyday hero, an Emergency Response Corpsman who saves lives for a living. When the world is stolen away from him, he finds himself lost in a tortured and endless wasteland, thrust into a violent conflict that will scar his body and soul.

Amira Saladin came to Mars as a teenager, where life on the harsh frontier uncovered her talents as an engineer and inventor. Given access to living technology, she's now charged with inventing the future... and she'll gradually reinvent herself along the way.

All the while, a dark and ancient horror hunts among the countless stars, a demon planet that exists only to conquer and consume. The Nefrem have awakened. The devourer is coming, and it will not be satisfied.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth a peek 6 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
As a definitive non fan of the sci fi genre, i really wasn`t too sure about reading Stars Rain Down, but I am kind of glad I did. once you get past the space techno babble, you have a good story about two men on whose shoulders land the responsibility to save humanity from an unexpected alien invasion - a case of mistaken I dentity on the part of the aliens! There is Jack - a man who beleives in preserving life, suddenly finds himself thrust into role of ruthless soldier and leader, and faced with making tough decisions that upturn the very moral code he lives by, and Marcus - space explorer extrodinarre, who happens to be on a mission in space when war kicks off, and who must race to build an army big enough to bring back to earth and reclaim his world. Will they prevail, or will humanity be blotted from existence? Pick up and find out - its worth it!
I only gave this four stars as I can`t say the book managed to completely turn me, and there was the odd typo...

3.0 out of 5 stars Goods read. 31 Dec 2012

When I started to read this novel I was surprised at the pace it moved at, quick changes between each scenario kept me interested. The creative aspects of the alien physiology is interesting and in many ways reminds me of the halo game franchise. Anyone who likes fast inventive action based sci fiction will love this.

I read this book sometime ago and loved it. It caught me by surprise with its originality and it has long been a favourite of mine in this genre, along with Rendezvous with Rama (to give you an idea of how highly I regard this novel).
And today, the author announced that he is hard at work on the sequel, which I have been checking back for.
Good job Mr. Randolph. I am eagerly anticipating the next installment.

Good science fiction story told from 2 completely different viewpoints - and positions in space. Some good concepts here and nice ideas. Also refreshing to see a hero who starts off trying to save lives before being forced to take up arms to defend his planet, an unwilling hero who stands up to both the aliens and the extremists on his own side. The life of the other hero is a scientist who accidentally avoids the carnage that has befallen the rest of mankind and teams up with a more benign alien to try and defeat the baddie aliens. A worthwhile read and well written.
