I disagree with the other review because personally I think this is a fantastic collection of songs. Carter were a band who avoided being lazy when it came to b-sides - most bands are content to just use live tracks and remixes for b-sides but Carter kept up the quality even for these lesser known tracks, many of which remained in their live set right up to the end, holding their own against the singles. It has to be said that this collection showcases a different side to Carter than you'd expect from the singles - songs like "Her Song" and "Watching the Big Apple Turnover" being far more introspective and toned-down than their other songs. But if you want classic Carter, there's also a few should-have-been singles on this collection - "Alternative Alf Garnett" and "Granny Farming in the UK" to name but two. Plus there's the single "Glam Rock Cops" which never featured on any of the band's albums. The biggest selling point for this album nowadays is the price - nigh-on twenty songs for the price? BUY IT!

Well...its not 30 something... but its still damn good, and does not age the way some other trash does.
Enjoyed every single track and have created a mix of all the Carter USM tracks on the ipod to get a really good mix of all their tracks.
I cant think of a single track i dont like or even would contemplate hitting fast forward on.

Carter used the B-Sides of their singles to try new things. It made the 7" worth buying. This release collects together most of the band's flip-sides up to that point in their career. It's missing some covers they did but the 18 tracks on offer are as good as anything on the regular albums. In fact, it's 2nd only to 30 Something in my opinion.

Top Draw, Carter USM at their best :-)
A great CD it rocks from start to finish. Released in 1994 every song has a cracking tune and fantastic thought provoking lyrics. Read more

Hmmm. Mixed emotions on this one.
Well it's what you expect of a b sides collection I suppose...incisive lyrics but it doesn't quite hit the heights of the albums, but that's why they're b-sides I suppose. Read more
