- We recommend the Vivanco SCART cable for use with this product.
All the standard functions are included and overall, it works like a charm!
I would highly recommend this to any buyer who is moving into digital world from VHS or anyone just wanting a second player for a bedroom or so (may even want to put your trusted Sony in the bedroom and have this one in the living room!)
A great buy, for half the price you would expect to pay!
But don't be put off. The player itself is sleek and silver and by no means ugly. It comes with an audio/video lead but no scart. Remote is slightly tacky but it works and it has large number buttons - ideal for my mum! It even comes with batteries supplied.
And does the player work? You bet. Shoved in a Nemo DVD - played first time, no problem, good picture quality. Threw in a CD, again no issues, but you need your TV on if you want to know what track you are listening to - small strip of info at top of screen diplays track number and other info. Works fine - Also connected the player to my home cinema system and although the audio quality would not win prizes at an audiophile convention, it was still perfectly acceptable.
Then decided to throw in a cd which I had used some time back to backup a few MP3 music files - it played them perfectly. Running out of things to try on it - I shoved in a CD containing a backup of family photos (jpg format) and lo and behold - it displayed them without any hiccups.
I didn't find the machine noisy either (as noted in another review)
In summary, how can you go wrong with this machine? For the price, this is an absolute bargain as an entry level DVD/music player. I purchased it for my technophobe mother as her first DVD player but I'm thinking of buying a couple more for the kids rooms.
If you are the type who always has to buy brand names then go and buy a more expensive Sony or Panasonic. But if you want a cheap entry level machine and aren't worried about the branding, then I'd heartily recommend this box.
