This is the hundred and seventy sixth release from Big Finish in their range of full cast audio adventures starring classic Doctor Whos. It stars Sylvester McCoy, Tracey Childs and Christain Edwards as Seven, Elizabeth Klein and new companion Will Arrowsmith. There are four episodes, roughly 30 minutes each, complete with cliffhangers and original theme music between each. Two episodes per disc on 2 discs, and a short booklet with some pictures of the cast and production notes. There are some interviews with cast and crew at the end of the second disc and a few minutes of the soundtrack at the end of disc 1.

Starlight Robbery is the second of a trilogy of Seventh Doctor adventures in which he, Klein and Arrowsmith are trying to track down Kurt Schalk and his mysterious persuasion machine. To say that this release is better than the first in the trilogy, the abominable ‘Persuasion’, sounds like it is damming it with faint praise, but in actual fact I largely enjoyed this story.

Mark Fitton has produced a cracking script. It’s one of those twisty turny sort of heist stories, where nothing is quite as it seems. The Doctor and his friends find out that Garundel, the slimy arms dealer who first appeared in Gods and Monsters, is holding an auction, the prize lot of which is Kurt Schalk himself and a working Persuasion device. Every belligerent species in the galaxy will be represented, all of whom want the device, and none of whom really want to pay for it… Everyone has a devious plan, including, of course, the Doctor.

It’s well paced, lots of twists, turns and a dose humour. The Sontarans are a much better used here than in ‘Heroes of Sontar’, and come off quite well.

Latest Doctor Who audio story. This features Sylvester Mccoy as the Doctor, and is second in a run of three stories which see him travelling with Tracey Childs as U.N.I.T. science advisor Dr. Elizabeth Klein and Christian Edwards as her assistant Will Arrowsmith.

This story follows on from the end of the first in this run Persuasion (Doctor Who), which did end on a cliffhanger with some plot points to be resolved. Said plot points form the driving force of this story, and don't really become the main force of it till part four. So casual listeners might be able to get into it. But I would still say that you'd be better off having heard persuasion first.

This story runs for four episodes, spread over two discs. The parts are all thirty minutes long [approx].

Whereas Persuasion seemed to set things up and not quite deliver resolution, this story uses the dangling plot points from that as it's driving force. Or as Hitchcock might have said, a maguffin. The thing that the Doctor and friends went looking for at the end of Persuasion is now in the possession an old acquaintace. Garundel. A Salamander like alien arms dealer who is totally amoral and very camp. He first appeared in earlier seventh doctor release Black and White (Doctor Who), but you can get into this without having heard that.

As Garundel and his young assistant Ziv prepare to auction off their valuable possession, the Doctor send Elizabeth and Will in undercover, to see if they can steal it. But other buyers are at the auction. Including a trio of Sontarans. And some other dangerous aliens.

Plot Synopsis.
Searching for the key to a sinister alien technology the Persuasion machine the Seventh Doctor, Klein & Will Arrowsmith set there sights on a intergalactic arms auction run by an old acquaintance of the Doctors the slippery Urodelian crook Garundel.

Can the Doctor use his cunning to conduct a perfect heist stealing the Persuasion machine from under Garundels nose & evade the might of the Sontaran empire who have arrived at the galactic arms fair in a bid to claim the Persuasion device as a weapon of war against there enemy The Rutans.

Timelord Thoughts.
After the uneven tone of the first part of this trilogy Persuasion the second part of the trilogy Starlight Robbery delivers in spades thanks to entertaining galactic heist romp superbly written by Matt Fitton.

Sylvester McCoy is superb as the Seventh Doctor in this story who's manipulative nature is a great foil in performing a robbery against a old acquaintance the scheming Garundel an on form performance by Stuart Milligan.
