Product Description

In the heart of London, a concerned citizen is taking action:doing something about those everyday irritants that serve to increase the stresses of city life. Spitting out chewing gum, using mobiles in restaurants, barging onto Tube trains, tailgating, and blasting out music on public transport, all incur a heavy price for the transgressors.

As punishments escalate in severity and the press make a champion of this anti-hero, Detective Inspector Adam Stark is desperately trying to make sense of what's going on. Random, unconnected victims, excessive retribution, red herrings, kidnap, mutilation, mistaken identity, gangsters, revenge and murder. Things are getting totally out of hand.

Stark needs to nail this sociopath with a social conscience, but the case is so bizarre, it might just be running away from him - heading toward a brutal and bloody conclusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another enjoyable read from Peter Carroll 11 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
An enjoyable story and plot set around a very contemporary issue that will strike a chord with many people and introducing a new Peter Carroll character, Adam Stark. For me, the length of the book allowed insufficient room to develop the characters enough but leaves the door open to address this in a follow-up or series. I can visualise this book becoming the basis for a good TV crime drama to rival some of the established ones that are beginning to look a little tired.
I enjoyed the book and, as ever, look forward to what Peter Carroll comes up with next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stark Contrasts 7 Jan 2013

I thoroughly enjoyed this third effort from Peter Carroll which was a witty and fast paced crime thriller. My only complaint, if you can call it that, was that it was finished too quickly!! I like the potential Peter has created to explore the working and personal life of detective Stark and I eagerly await the next instalment.

Once started just couldn't put book down I loved it,
disappointed I finished it so quick. Also read Peter's first book In many ways which was also a page turner. Can't wait for his next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read 15 Jan 2013

I'm sure we have all had the desire for revenge at some point but this book takes it to another level! It is well written, at times witty and has enough twists to keep you on your toes throughout. I hope there is more to come from Adam Stark (the ending would suggest there is?), I would like to get to know him better!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another enjoyable read - 99p well spent 10 Feb 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the second Peter Carroll book I have read in the space of a few days. Like the first, "In Many Ways" it is well written using words of more than one syllable which is a refreshing change from some of the Kindle "cheapies". The story moves along at a good pace and you can feel empathy for the main character who is cheesed off by the inconsideration of the world around him. As has been mentioned in another review, I think D.I. Stark could and should feature in a couple more books.
