Putting the Fun Back in Stargate 13 April 2011
By Jo Wyrick - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Sunrise is simply enormous fun. If you miss the old-style SG-1, the banter, the adventure, the nifty new worlds to explore, and most of all the team, this is your book. It's well written, everyone is perfectly in character, and it reads like an undiscovered classic episode. This is my favorite of the SG-1 novels to date.

Predictable story 7 April 2011
By Amazing - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
A enjoyable story - although mostly that was 'cause it had been such a long time since the last book came out. The story was your typical adventure tale without any surprises at all. In fact, it was extremely predictable with clues screamed out at the reader rather than hinted at. It was amazing that it took so long for the characters to clue in to what was happening what with the avalanche of hints. This story didn't seem to be written with much enthusiasm by the authors and at times the story felt strained. The plot was extremely simplistic and our heros simply went with the flow throughout at an almost yawn-worthy pace. There were no surprises, no great action scenes and nothing much to entertain the Stargate enthusiast.
I'm beginning to lose my enthusiasm for Stargate books given the lack of quality writing by writers that actually know both the series and the characters well and also write with interest and real enthusiasm instead of a bank balance in mind.

Interesting but not fantastic 27 Mar 2011
By SGFan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The storyline of trying to find the shield was interesting, but I didn't like reading about the religiously devoted people and pious "Elect" who were worshipping essentially a soap opera. The people are rather unbelievable and annoying, and they reminded me of the Ori and their followers. I appreciated the tension between Rhionna and Faelan, but I felt that the Sam/Jack tension was lacking. For the emphasis made on them individually overcoming "Jonah" and "Thera," there was little mention of the relationship between them. However, I am glad that the authors dealt with the aftermath of the memory stamps because there wasn't time in the series to address that. I pretty much always enjoy reading novels involving the main characters, and this book was no exception.
