Product Description

Shortly after Daniel Jackson returns from his time among the ascended Ancients, he volunteers to join an archaeological survey of Chinese ruins on P3Y-702. But after accidentally activating a Goa'uld transport ring, Daniel finds himself the prisoner of the Goa'uld Lord Yu. Blaming himself for Daniel's capture, Jack O'Neill vows to go to any lengths to get him back - even if it means taking matters into his own hands.

The Forward in this book sounds exciting, especially if you are a Daniel Fan. But there's the rub, more like inaction on his part for most of the book I'm afraid.
His time is taken up with a board game with Lord Yu (we are not quite sure why).Dealing with four colours, four dragon pieces (with different coloured eyes), four guards and four children. In China the number four is considered unlucky and is avoided so I'm not sure why it is so prominent in this book (unless it evaluates to the four members of SG1. Red for Jack, Grey for Teal'c, Blue for Sam and Green for Daniel).
A book for your collection, but not one of the best.

Quite a good story 2 Nov 2010
By Amazing
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This story was quite good. There are only one or two mistakes that fans will notice but nothing that will make you toss this out the window as I have done with other recent Stargate books.
My one problem with this is not major. I did not like the way Daniel was captured by Yu - it seemed terribly, TERRIBLY convenient and set my teeth on edge for most of the book.
Otherwise, this author has done her research well. She's written an exciting book and has explored many apects of the Stargate universe and characters that fans will find interesting if not rivetting.
I would read another Stargate book written by this author without hesitation.

So so 6 Mar 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Although well written for the most part. I found how Daniel was written (and actually Jacks attitude in the beginning) out of character. I have never seen Daniel portrayed as so ineffectual in the series as he is in this book (especially post season 6). Jack, Sam and Teal'c were portrayed as the heroic and loyal team members we love to imagine them as and for the most part that was fun to read. However personally I struggled to understand the point the author was trying to make with Daniel in the story (in context with the series) and disappointed with a slightly mis-leading blurb.

I think with books of this type, where certain loved character aspects are expected, it's probably better to await reviews before pre-ordering to prevent any post purchase frustration.
