From Amazon.co.uk

The 1994 movie Stargate was originally intended as the start of a franchise, but creators Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin were distracted celebrating their Independence Day. Episodic TV treatment was the natural next step. Since neither Kurt Russell nor James Spader would be able to commit, it gave the producers licence to tinker with the cast and the universe they'd explore. Replacing the roles of Colonel Jack O'Neill and Dr. Daniel Jackson respectively are Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks. They're joined by Captain Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) and guilt-stricken former alien baddie Teal'c (Christopher Judge) to form the teacher's pet primary unit SG-1 With a seemingly endless network of Stargates found to exist on planets all across the known universe, their mission is to make first contact with as many friendly races as possible. Chasing their heels at almost every turn are the "overlord" pharaohnic Goa'uld--the ancient Egyptian Gods who are none too chummy after the events of the original film. The welcome notion of a continued plot thread sees offshoots that follow the reincarnation of Daniel's wife, Sam's father literally joining a renegade faction of the Goa'uld, and Jack in an unending quest to out-sarcasm everyone. There's something of The Time Tunnel to the show's premise, but amid a dearth of derivative look-a-likes, Stargate has held its own with stories that put the science fiction back into TV sci-fi.

"The Serpent's Song" is a cry for help from the team's nemesis--Apophis--who they've been fighting since the beginning. It's a morality showcase all-round. Although deserving a "Holiday", the team just can't leave alien artefacts alone, which gets them into all manner of trouble playing with Ma'chello's body-swapping machine. This episode gives everyone a fantastic opportunity to impersonate one another. "One False Step" of another kind lays a guilt trip on them all for accidentally infecting a race with a disease. Then in "Show and Tell" the central story arc takes a dramatic turn when a child arrives to warn that some survivors of a Goa'uld attack are determined to eliminate anyone who might host their enemy--which means Earth as a whole. --Paul Tonks

Product Description

Four more episodes from the second season of the popular sci-fi series. In 'Serpent's Song', the SG1 team are offered a pact by their mortal enemy Apophis, who is on the run from the Gou'ald and in need of a new body. 'Holiday' sees Jackson trapped into swapping his body with a dying alien intent on escaping to Earth. In 'One False Step', the SG1 team accidentally cause an entire alien race to become infected with a deadly plague while visiting their planet on an away mission. 'Show and Tell' sees the SG1 team tricked into assisting an invisible race who wish to destroy humanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 20 Nov 2000
Format:DVD
After watching this DVD, I was thrilled because it was alot better than watching all four episodes on the television without the adverts. Serpent's Song was a very good episode where the team came face to face with Apophis again, but this episode was very well written as it showed the more Humane aspect of the team when pulled into that kind of situation. Holiday was another good episode with Michael Shanks playing two different characters (Daniel Jackson and Ma'chello), an old and dying man. The funniest part of the episode was when Teal'c and Jack actually changed personalities (I was in stitches). The other two episodes One False Step and Show and Tell were also enjoyable to watch. If you haven't brought this DVD yet, go out and buy it aswell as all the other DVD's of Stargate SG-1. It really was good with funny and powerful storylines.

5.0 out of 5 stars a glowing recommendation of stargatesg-1 volume 2.6 18 April 2001
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
The spirits is a light hearted episode. It offers both comedy in the form of a confused american indian and a serious note in the form of a missing team. It discusses the issue of fair trade between earth and other planets as well as alien species views of how earth handels hard situations. The tokra part one goes back to a previous episode were captain samantha carter was taken over my a gould. In this episode she remembers one of the goulds memories about a race of people called the tokra who would be a useful allie to earth. It also reinstates the issue about captain carters fathers condition which posses a problem of getting home. This episode is extremely gripping with some small light hearted moments from colonel jack o neill. Once you've seen this episode you'll have to see part 2 it just gets better.

I actually bought the complete 10 season box set from Amazon "open products" at a really good price a short while ago, but found that one of the disks was missing after the return window had closed. I therefore bought this disk to fill up the missing space in the set.

The really good thing is that the disk does actually match the rest of the set; the label is the same as those from the same season; apart from a slight variation in the font of one set of information. It has the same interface on the disk as those from the same season and it contains the right episodes to fill the gap.

This disk doesn't have any of the extras; a shame as I really enjoy seeing some of the shorts that provide more insight into the work that went into producing this really excellent series. Overall, very pleased inded.
