DVD Description

Contains the episodes:

Irresponsible - When the team follows up about a rumor of an invincible hero off-world, they find that it’s really just Lucius Lavin up to his old tricks. And instead of finding a superhero, they find themselves in a fight with Kolya and his men.

Tao of Rodney - Zapped by a mysterious device that belonged to the Ancients, Rodney winds up with superhuman powers. But things aren’t quite what they seem, and Rodney and the team must race to ensure his safety.

The Game - The discovery of a simulator game that McKay and Sheppard have been playing for a year turns out to be real, and they must now put their petty competition aside or pay the consequences for inadvertently orchestrating a bloody war.

The Ark - The Atlantis team discovers survivors from a civilization who are in suspended animation aboard a space station. As some of the people awaken, it turns out that everyone on the station might be destroyed, including Sheppard.

Audio commentary on all four episodes • Mission directive: The Game featuring William Waring • Masters of the alien • Exclusive still gallery and production design gallery

Episodes 3.5 (Progeny) & 3.6 (The Real World) are a somewhat unconventional two-parter, a follow up to the first season episode "Hot Zone", that introduce the new major adversaries to the Atlantis in the form of the Asurans. Although on the surface the Asurans, seem to be a retold version of the Replicators of Stargate SG-1, however in fact it seems like a cleaver way of explaining the answers to gaps in the Stargate mythology. With the first episode introducing the new villains with some remarkable special effects for a television series, the second being character piece for Dr Weir. The inclusion of Stargate SG-1 lead man Richard Dean Anderson in "The Real World", adds to this smart episode. Episode 3.7 (Common Ground) returns the forces back to the Wraith and the human adversaries the Genii. Although on the surface the episode is an insight to the character of Lt. Col John Sheppard, the episode also revels a major revelation about the Wraith. Episode 3.8 (McKay and Mrs. Miller) introduces McKay's estranged sister Jeanie. The episode allows actor David Hewlett, to explore more of his character thought interactions with his sister and by playing a alternate version of himself, both added to light more comic moments to the episode in-between the serious elements of the episode. This collection of four episodes continues the high quality of the previous volume.

Episode 3.1 (No Man's Land) picks up from directly from the season 2 finally, with the team desperately attempts to stop two Wraith hive ships from reaching Earth. With a number of space battle sequences adding to the scope of the episode, this episode delivers action and suspense. The story continues and concludes in episode 3.2 (Misbegotten) as the Atlantis team must decide the fate of a colony of Wraith they have turned into humans. This episodes allows actor Paul McGillion to shine as Dr. Carson Beckett, by exploring the ethical issues of experimentation on prisoners of war. Episode 3.3 (Irresistible) is one of Atlantis more comic episodes, in which actor Richard Kind is introduced as Lucius Lavin, who's pheromones cause both men and women to take an interest in him to the point, ignoring their own self-interests. At times silly, this episode allows the actor to explore a different side to their characters. Episode 3.4 (Sateda), delves into the past of Ronon Dex. A mixture of high octane action and flashbacks, works well giving the episode a major big film feel into 42 minutes of television. Over all, the first four episodes of season 3 provide enough entertainment for any fans and new comes alike.

Stargate Atlantis 3 Sep 2009

Another very good series but five seasons makes it too long. However I have thoroughly enjoyed those I already have, may consider others in the future, undecided?
