Book Description

With the death of his heroic father, bomber and space warfare veteran Patrick McLanahan, Bradley McLanahan must now fly solo, leading a team of young engineers designing Starfire, the world’s first orbiting solar power plant.

Starfire will not only deliver unlimited and inexpensive electricity anywhere on planet Earth, it can also transmit power to the moon, and even to spacecraft and asteroids. It’s a crucial first step in the exploration of the solar system, and Bradley and his team are on the cutting edge.

But US president Kenneth Phoenix’s plans to militarize and industrialize Earth’s orbit sparks an arms race in space that eclipses the darkest and most terrifying days of the Cold War. Before he can prevent it, Bradley and his team are caught at the center of a battle that threatens to become an all-out global conflict for control of space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dale Brown never fails to deliver. 22 Jun. 2014
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
It always amazes me how Dale keeps coming up with engaging storylines with many twists and turns....yet he does, he keeps on doing it. He continues to push the boundaries of where and how future conflicts will occur in a truly believable way. Keep the coming Dale.....please...
George.

3.0 out of 5 stars A story line from the past 10 Dec. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I felt like I was reading one of those 50s type pulp scfi stories. I should have been paid to read it instead of paying for it. It had a lot of questionable scenes that left me feeling the book needed a rewrite or two. A lot of plots that had me saying to myself "Come on, man!" I did finish it, just to try and find out what the aliens were about. And who they were and where they came from. Didn't really find out. But, if you have nothing better to do than read a plot from a bad scfi movie this one is it. The characters are OK but some of the messes they get into had me rolling my eyes. Drunken Russians in space just don't do it for me. Let along sex in space. In my youth this would have be great for a late Saturday night movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping all the way through 27 Mar. 2015
By Rishi
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Stafford is a gripping story from the very beginning to the end.
The fictional story of Starfire is a sobering though of what could happen in our future world if governments loose their reason...too frightening just to think about it! However a great read without a doubt. I highly recommend Stafford. Rishi

5.0 out of 5 stars Starfire 22 Nov. 2014

God help us if we ever let our leaders get themselves into the position that the two presidents did.

An interesting book with very possible theories on what can go wrong in space when weapons are potentially involved.

3.0 out of 5 stars Starfire 26 Jan. 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am afraid this story was not as good as many of Mr Brown's previous novels. I hope in future less technical data and a more realistic adversary.

Good read, twist in the ending, looks as though the Brads line will continue. Not the worst or the best
