Book Description

25 Nov 2008
A no-nonsense starship captain and a billionaire financier, Fairfax and Cavendish are the ultimate odd couple. Until an insidious government conspiracy leaves them with nothing-except each other. When billionaire financier Harrison Fairfax boards the EarthFed starship Starchild, Captain Trieka Cavendish knows he'll bring trouble. Earthlubbers always do. But she has no idea "trouble" will come in the form of a vast government conspiracy that will turn her whole world upside down. Harrison Fairfax has spent the past seven years trying to find out what happened to his wife, an investigative journalist. But his wife's disappearance is only the tip of the iceberg. What lies beneath is bigger-and much, much worse. It's a conspiracy reaching to the highest echelons of EarthFed. Government strongmen, who are on to Fairfax's meddling, drive him and Cavendish into the wilds of the colony planet Denahault, where they discover even more secrets-and a passion that may be the only thing that can save them. Warning, this title contains the following: sensual content, violence.

3.0 out of 5 stars romanmce novel or sci-fi 5 Feb 2009
By Philip D. Long - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Is this booka romance novel or a sci-fi page turner, the author can't seem to make up her mind. While it is a very readable book, I found the changes to be somewhat jarring.

I would advise forgetting the romance part and treat it as a straightforward adventure novel. The two main protagonists were the only humans written deeply but the aliens were more interesting. I hope that any future books in this series will treat the humans kinder. All-in-all a good book for all it's faults.
