Turns your express card slot into Cardbus. Works perfectly,Win7 immediately recognised it and found and installed the correct drivers.works with both 54mm and 34mm.
I'm very satisfied with this product, although it was perhaps a little expensive.

This adapter can't use PCMCIA (16bit) cards.
(It is TI XIO2000A PCI-e to PCI bridge. Cardbus should be OK)

If you'd like to use PCMCIA cards i suggest you to check another one.

e.g. Roalan EC1632, shentek 33005, Digigear ExpressCard Adapter, Synchrotech Express2PCC, etc.

Having seen previous reviews about using panasonic p2 cards (or not) with this adaptor, I wanted to share my experience.

I found that it works perfectly with p2 cards. You just need to follow a certain route of installing drivers.

This worked for me on a vista 32bit laptop:

* download and install the latest panasonic p2 software/drivers (in my case the 32bit vista ones) from the panasonic website (I did this with a p2 card in the adapter).

* After the installation, reboot as suggested

* with the p2 card still in, windows should try to install a driver automatically for the new mass storage controller it sees. This failed for me, but then you simply automatically locate the driver - you should point it to program files/panasonic p2/drivers/card

* it will then install the correct driver for windows to see it as a panasonic p2 device which should show up in device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

Works like a treat from then on. I can transfer a p2 card contents to a folder on my internal drive on the laptop in about ten minutes. Great for transfering/backing up on location or simply getting your media to your laptop to edit on quickly and cheaply!
