The picture shown of this item suggests a metal back and black faceplate of undetermined material. But instead, it is in fact one piece of extruded black plastic. That in itself is misleading and a reason to avoid the product. But it's worse than that.
Being plastic, the machining is imprecise, so it does not quite fit in a standard bay, slightly fouling the bay above. Also being plastic, the material is necessarily much thicker than metal would be, too thick for standard computer bolts to pass through. As a result, the supplied extended self-tapping screws must be used. So don't lose the screws or this thing is useless, which it would not be if it were as described.
Had I known this, I would have avoided it. It does the job, but only just, only by my engineering allowances for its shoddy quality, and not in the way I wanted the job done. Put simply, this item is not as advertised. To me, that makes it fraudulent. Such behaviour gets mail order a bad name. So this item should be avoided to punish the lie and demonstrate that misrepresentation is not acceptable.
