Just spotted that stng season 3 is now on pre order here on Amazon but at the ridiculous price of 77.20 what's going on here seasons 1 and 2 were cheaper than this. Unless they drop the price to a reasonable level just before release.

Dave says:
I was perfectly happy with c. 50. Given they haven't spelled the name of the show correctly ("Star Tre" at the time of writing) and that a lot of sites still aren't listing I'll assume 77 is provisional...even as an opener though it is ridiculous.

wat the flip!!!! theres noway i'm paying 77 i don't mind 50. if this is the price i'm getting enterprise instead

Dave says:
I'm getting Enterprise as well, as that is my wife's could do with the price dropping. I am used to Trek being I am fine with the price for Enterprise..

Yeah I didn't notice that earlier with the spelling but that explains why it didn't update my wish list entry also I have ordered a 20 gift voucher from nectar which will drop the price a bit

GameOn says:
Hopefully the price is just a place holder because 77 is a slap in the face when the other seasons can be picked up for 40-50. What's even worse is that they're releasing a separate "Best of Both Worlds" disc which is supposed to have its own exclusive extras.

Dave says:
Now 50.99 at Sainsburys - so we are getting there!

I have just seen the price 77 !!! Are they mad !! Even c. 50 is quite expensive these days for a season box set on Blu-Ray but I was still quite happy to pay it, but 77 is extortionate and an insult. Amazon needs to knock 25 off this price now! If it stays at this price I certainly won't be pre-ordering it. Enterprise season 1 is also coming out in April and this is currently about 52. The original series, TNG seasons 1 & 2 were all about 50 when they first came out, so why the sudden and unexplained price increase ?
Amazon - explain yourself !

It does seem a bit steep. Maybe as said before its just a temporary price and it will drop to the regular 50 area closer to release as Sainsbury's has it as said before at 50.99 on their site

Which is a blatant money grab to cater for those that don't want to wait a couple of months for Part 2 on the season 4 Blu-Ray.

GameOn says:
I don't mind them releasing a "Best of Both Worlds" disc seeing as it's the highest rated episode of TNG and having to swap discs from 2 different season sets would just be a pain. I do have a problem with them putting exclusive extras on it though when they should also be on the season sets. I can't see them doing it with any other two part episodes except for maybe "All Good Things" but both parts of that will be on the season 7 set.

Yeah im more than happy to pay 50 for each of them, but 77 wtf? That will most likely come down soon but I like to pre order straight away and then forget about it and I get a nice surprise when it comes through the door

That BOBW disc, is that going to be the full length TV movie version? If so I'm definitely getting it!
When BOBW was released as a TV movie they cut out a few seconds at the beginning of part 2 where Geordie says "discharge in 10 seconds" it really slows down the action and suspense after riker says "fire!" at the end of part 1, so when it was on telly as soon as Riker says "fire" it fires straight away, it was released as feature length on telly and VHS like this and im so glad they are doing it on blu ray too. But anyway, you probably know that anyway :) but thats why no other 2 parter will be on its own disc as they were never made like that

Actually Stephen all of the 2 parters have feature length versions but the only 2 that were initially filmed that way were Encounter at Farpoint and All Good Things which has more footage in the feature length version than the 2 part version

I didn't know that, thanks for the info

No probs

77 is criminal and blatent extorsion from Amazon to cash in on season 3's cult status. For the first time ever I'm pre ordering this from Sainsbury's as it's only 51 there. Really Amazon, shame on you and shame on the capitalist PIG who decided a 77 price tag. Link here...

I was surprised that Amazon wants to charge over 77 for season 3 of TNG. I wanted to pr-order this from Amazon, but not at any price! I have therefore pre-ordered this from Sainsburys at a more reasonable 50!

In reply to an earlier post on 2 Feb 2013 17:41:35 GMT
Also the Best of both Worlds blu ray is 7 there, so im pre ordering that too

Lets all thank Amazon for having this discussion board here where we all found out how to get cheaper products elsewhere, thanks Amazon!

This isn't the only thing I have noticed is a lot more expensive than other places, have amazon employed some of the management from hmv?
