Whoever measured it, needs their eyes testing. I bought an R2-D2 from a supermarket, almost identical, for less than a fiver. I thought this would be a large toy for playing with - it is tiny, and I have no idea where the 22.9cm measurement comes from. It was a last minute Christmas present for a 6 year old, one he won't be getting under the tree this year! Avoid at all costs.

The BEST Artoo? 2 Dec. 2010
By Sunny - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
This figure is one I was really excited for. Not only does he have the drink server (with removable cups, how cool is that?) but he has a periscope, a panel that reveals an arm, and a pop-up lightsaber! When you put the periscope or lightsaber into his dome and push down, his third leg appears. Put in the lightsaber, and push the leg back up and the lightsaber pops out! When I first got him, it took me forever to figure out how his third leg worked. The only flaw about it, and when I figured it out all was good.

Besides that, I think he's the most movie accurate Artoo out there. He's a bit smaller than the other Artoos, but that just makes him even better. He has more of a stubby appearance, like he does in the movie. Currently he is on display next to the Saga Legends C-3PO (the one with the chair) and they look so great together!

Very happy with this figure, and very recommended.

A great R2-D2 11 Feb. 2013

After a lot of debate, I decided to buy this R2-D2. I already own an R2-D2 from the Clone Wars Collection, which I think is superb, but I wanted one movie accurate. And I'm glad that I decided to buy this one, because I think this little R2 unit is "the droid I was looking for", pun intended.

This is R2-D2 as seen on the movie Return of the Jedi. The sculpt of this figure is great, with details in all sort of panels and paint job is just spot on.

Out of the box, this figure comes with a rack of drinks and serving arm already plugged into its dome which matches its look as a serving droid on Jabba's Skiff. These, of course, are removable.

R2-D2 has:
- swivel head, hips and ankles.

This figure also include a telescopic sensor and a lightsaber hilt. When inserted all the way into R2-D2 dome, the retractable third leg pop out from under R2-D2, just like in the movies. In this way, the telecopic sensor can cover the open panel on R2-D2's dome. However, R2-D2 can not move its dome when any of these are inserted. And without any of these, the open panel can only be covered when the dome rotates from its forward position, which work when you are not looking for it.

It has a compartment for one of its center arms. I which it also included the lateral compartments for its other arms, like the Clone Wars version, but I don't think you could have all of those in a single R2-D2 unit at such a small scale. But I wish there was one.

Overall, this figure is really fun with great likeness to the movie versions of R2-D2 and great posability.

This is a really cool r2d2 with a nice card. The figure is nicely made and shows r2 serving drinks in Episode 6.

Can I get anybody a drink? 26 Sept. 2012

This is one of the best R2's you can get. The drink cart is cool, but the best part is the hidden compartment that you can house the included Luke Skywalker lightsaber in. It's a fun addition for fans who are looking to reenact scenes in their collections.

Star Wars The Vintage Collection ROTJ R2- D2 20 Jun. 2012
By Braxton S. - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Fun:
Let me start off by saying that this is one of those figures that is meant more for mature collectors, not so much children. There's just not a whole lot of mind- blowing stuff here for a little kid, especially when children are interested in "cooler" figures like Jedi, Sith, Clones, etc. But any older collector will find this to be an awesome addition to any Star Wars collection. This little guy, being an astromech droid, isn't very articulated. He has a swivel head, swivel legs, and all three feet are on a hinge joint. This guys has a huge amount of accessories for such a small figure. He has a nicely detailed drink rack, with seven removable glasses, he has a small hole in the top of the head that can store one of two things: his small sensorscope, or Luke's lightsaber hilt. If you push the middle leg up, the hilt flies out of his head just like in the movie, which is pretty cool. He also has a removable drink serving arm that can be pegged into the top if his head. His paint apps and sculpting are wonderful as well. All in all, as this is not a children's toy, it is something any older collector (like myself) thoroughly enjoy.
