A great book about Anakin Solo and his adventures at the Jedi Temple. In this book, Jedi Master Tionne returns from one of her research trips with some exciting news: Maybe Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber wasn't on the Death Star when it exploded. It might be hidden in a Fortress on the planet called Vjun. This Fortress was build by Darth Vader. Now Tionne, Anakin, his friends Tahiri and Uldir, R2-D2 and the Jedi Master Ikrit set off to find the lightsaber. But who knows what kind of dangers a Fortress build by Darth Vader can hide?
An excellent book, a children's book but adults can read it too - but I miss some of the excitement from other books in this series. You can see that it has been writen for children. Still, Rebecca have done a good work. A little more excitement, and it would have received 5 stars from me.
Still, if you liked the other Junior Jedi Knights books, then my advice would be: Read it!! A good book for the price...

If you love STAR WARS, you'll love this! 26 Feb. 2000

I liked this because of the interaction between Tiione and Tahiri. They seem a lot like mother and daughter, which surprised me because Tiione is an instructor--not her mother. It brings out a loving side to these two characters--especially Tahiri. Instead of gushing all over Anakin all the time, she talks to other people, too. This makes her seem more social. At first, I thought she had a crush on Anakin (that's why she talked so much to him), but now I think that talking to people that way is her nature. This book brings out Tahiri's social side. And later, her serious side too . . .

Vader's Fortress is a wonderful book about the discovery of the lightsaber previously owned by Obi-Wan Kenobi. It is very exciting and also extremely captivating
Great sneak peak into the hidden life of Darth Vader 13 Jun. 2013

There were some real gems in this story. Obviously, going on a quest to retrieve the light saber of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which Darth Vader had secreted off the Death Star and hidden on his secret fortress, was fun. The villain was, well, campy. But I really enjoyed the overall story of the delve into Vader's fortress, previously seen in some of the other EU comic and novels. The most touching moment I thought was [spoiler alert] when the delvers discovered the hologram of Luke Skywalker which Vader kept in his personal quarters. Given that the Episodes I-III had not yet been made when this book was written, it was really cool to see this post-Vader, but obviously still conflicted, side of Anakin Skywalker, who clearly had fond feelings for his son even though he had turned nearly wholly evil.

A good book, but not the best 22 Nov. 2000

Format: Mass Market Paperback
This was a good book, but I didn't like it as much as the other books in the series. For one thing, I wish Uldir would stop being such a brat, can't he see Anakin and Tahiri only want to be his friends? I guess not. However, he does get better as time goes on, so that's a good thing. :) I also don't think that Mage Orloc is a worthy foe for Anakin and Tahiri. Granted, this book is meant for younger children than myself, but even when I read it for the first time at age eleven I didn't find him very intimidating. I mean, these kids have fought the dark lords of the Sith and come out alive, so in my opinion they shouldn't have any problems defeating this wimp. But that's just my opinion. All in all, it was a fun book and I would recamend it to any kid who loves Star Wars.
