Can it be true that the Empire have a scheme to set up a rebellion against themselves?
I like the plot of Star Wars:The Force Unleashed but didn't really enjoy the way it was told. The story is told from the perspective of a Droid and a pretty but vague love interest of our hero. The 'hero' is called Starkiller and he is Darth Vaders apprentice. Does that mean he's on the Dark Side. Maybe not.
The art in the book is good but rarely exceptional. The stand alone images look impressive enough but they don't flow as naturally as they should.
I'd give this book 3.7 out of 5, simply because my expectations for it were higher and I've read better Star Wars Graphic Novels such as Mara Jade :By The Emperors Hand, Empire Volumes 1,2 and 3 and Crimson Empire. Despite not enjoying it as much as I was hoping it still is an essential read for fans, as the Star Wars history it reveals is fascinating to discover. It's quite an epic tale, I just wish it had been told with more dynamism and depth and over more pages. Huge moments happen in very few panels or pages and then it skips on to the next event. I would like the characters to have been explored a bit more for their various motivations, especially "Starkiller" who we never know much about. All we know of "Starkiller" is a memory from his past(shown in a similar way to Lukes vision of Vader on Dagobar in Empire Strikes Back), and a rather sudden love for his beautiful Imperial pilot, and the fact that Vader has taught him some awsome dark side skills.
The other annoying niggle was characters throughout the comic being killed off in ways where it was obvious they'd likely survived. But I suppose it is a sci-fi fantasy and shouldn't be taken too seriously.
