The new 6" Black Series is a real new direction for Hasbro and the first two waves, including the Luke Skywalker X-Wing figure havent disappointed.
Luke is a sturdy feeling figure that can achieve a number of "action" poses that the smaller figures often couldnt without looking unnatural. He comes with a removable X-Wing helmet, light sabre and blaster. The packaging is a box rather than a blister card so for collectors you can still "keep the packaging" if you deem this a future investment. Luke sits very well with the R2 D2 figure, also from wave 1. £20 in the UK is the standard price for these, but the less desireable figures will drop lower. It's not as cheap as Neca, but does feel a better quality,
My downside is not about the figure, but about the distribution and choices Hasbro are already making. The case quantities or distribution is not matched to demand so chase figures (which I know will always exist) like the wave 1 Sandtrooper, wave 2 Boba Fett or the very elusive wave 3 Stormtrooper become difficult/impossible to find in the UK at a reasonable price. I am already without the Han in carbonite SDCC exlusive as that is way over what I would pay for a figure and am looking to struggle to find just one Stormtrooper whilst Greedo's and Leia's still clog the shelves. This range is wonderful and has a bright future, but until distribution is evened out some collectors will be switched off when they cant get what they want at a fair price.
