Review
ROBOT CHICKEN : STAR WARS We have a good feeling about this... A side-splitting homage / p*ss-take of the Holy Trilogy Beginning on the internet before achieving cult status on the 'Cartoon Network', Seth Green and Matthew Senreich's bizarre Robot Chicken creation has garnered one hell of a following with its stop animated, pop-culture-fuelled sketch show, where a cast of toys are the stars of the show. In facts, the show has achieved such a following that the voice cast cameo list has gone from impressive to outstanding, incorporating such talents as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Scarlett Johansson, Rachael Leigh Cook and Christian Slater. In this doubly long special episode, Green and co turn their attention to the Star Wars universe and present a selection of sketches featuring some familiar faces from the movies, some guest stars (such as Jedi George W. Bush), and even more impressive voice talent (featuring Malcolm McDowell and George Lucas himself). The sketches are a mixed bag, but the brevity very much works in the show's favour, as some skits fly by within a blink of an eye, and those segments that don't sit too well are over before you know it. Highlights include the Emperor making Darth Vader cry, an alternative version of the cantina scene from A New Hope and a 'Star Wars On Ice' finale. The special features provide plenty of extra hilarity with additional Robot Chicken footage and six, that's right, six audio commentaries, featuring an endless list of affiliated talent including writers, voice actors, directors of animation and more.
