I have read the Star Wars Phantom Menace illustrated screen play before seeing any of the trailers to the film.

The screen play provides you with the entire dialogue that occurs throughout the film, intermingled with captons indicting camera shots and location.

The screen play allowed me to experience the film first hand before visisting the cinema. It was possible to feel empathy with the characters and the pace of the script allowed the twists and turns to grasp and hold you.

Upon completion of this screenplay I saw some clips and trailers for the film and immediately knew exactly which scenes were being shown and the story surrounding them. Reading the screenplay has allowed me an extra insight into the film.

Many people share the experience that the second time you see a movie you get so much more out of it owing to the grasp of the finer details and sub-plots. This is how I anticipate my enjoyment of the upcoming cinema release.

The screenplay truely provides you with the ability to see the film in advance of the showings. A well deserved 5 crown score.

I was a Star Wars nut in the late 70's . Couldn't get enough of it ; each film excited me as it was released , and I've secretly harboured an enthusiasm ever since . Until I see the new movie , I'm skeptical , but this screenplay has certainly whetted my appetite . Although we've all become used to the images and story of the existing trilogy , this is a refreshing return to the " galaxy far, far away " , and it reeks of true Lucas continuity . Easily read in a day , this is an appetiser for the film to follow ; my only criticism is that I would have loved to see more photos , aside from the shot of Darth Maul on the cover ! However , given Lucasfilm's desire to keep most details under wraps until the official screening date , this is understandable . Even without film-shots, this book is highly recommended , and well worth the price of entry : fans will delight in the origins of R2-D2 and C-3PO particularly , and revel in the other details of the existing trilogy's back-history . A must for all Star Wars fans , current or lapsed , and an essential purchase -- put this on your 1-click list !
