Product Description

Product Description

Return to the great adventures of your youth, or discover a part of the Star Wars saga you never knew existed. From 1977 to 1986, Marvel Comics produced monthly Star Wars comics. This was when the continuity for that galaxy far, far away was still brand new, when almost anything could happen--and often did!

About the Author

Klaus Janson achieved wide recognition for his artwork on the legendary Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. His other credits include Daredevil and Batman.

This is a must have for die-hard Star Wars fans. It was nice to read the last stories in this comic series (I collected some of these in the 80s), but its clear that the money just was in it anymore. The quality is not as good as the first books. It seems Marvel just wanted to get as much money as possible out of a dying series. The conlusion to the series is very disappointing.

A Taste of Childhood 7 May 2012
By Thomas Morgan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
If you were born in the 1970's, then you must remember reading these fresh out of the neighbourhood news stand back when Marvel was responsible for Star Wars comics. You must remember also the waiting between issues and the frustration of missing out a chapter in a multi-issue story. It's nice to finally fill in the blanks!
These were stories with a different feel to those we see printed more recently. A lot of the terminology that is now common among Star Wars fans was still being invented back then and the storylines were much less encumbered by all the canon and non-canon works that were developed for and around George Lucas' fanciful creation. Sure the visual language and colouring are reminiscent of an older style. Sure the themes were more earthly and common sense. Still, these are vintage Star Wars adventures for those of us who were there when the first films hit the silver screen. Really worth it if you're a fan.
