Product Description

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy begins shortly after the conclusion of events in Star Wars: Jedi Outcast. Players create a Jedi apprentice character and join the Jedi Academy on Yavin 4 to learn the ways of the Force under the tutelage of Luke Skywalker and Kyle Katarn.

While the young apprentice embarks on various missions to hone his skills and abilities, a mysterious group is discovered creating havoc throughout the galaxy. Until order is restored, the fate of the Jedi Academy--and the future of the Star Wars galaxy itself--hangs precariously in the balance.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy allows players to create and customise their own characters by choosing various characteristics including species, gender, clothing and physical attributes such as hair and facial features. In addition, players can create a custom lightsaber, selecting from hilt and blade colour. As apprentices progress in their training, different lightsabers will become available, such as the double-bladed lightsaber or dual lightsabers.

A unique level selection system allows players to choose their own path through the game as well as the missions they undertake to improve their Jedi skills. The game adds several new multiplayer modes and enhances existing modes that were most popular in Star Wars Jedi Outcast.

Star wars fans! 31 Dec 2003
They just keep on churning out Star wars games now and to be fair the best so far is Star wars Knights of the old republic but for those who like a bit more action then this game is good.
You start out by selecting your jedis look as well as saber colour and begin your life as a jedi trainee in Luke skywalkers Jedi academy.
You have a list of missions to do and they can be done in any order and finishing some missions pushes the story along and finishing missions lets you advance your Jedi skills and powers.
The graphics are good and represent the star wars universe very well and the lightsaber effects are fantastic.
Special mention has to be given to the sound effects complete with light saber swooshes and laser blasts.
This game also offers the chance to use vehicles like speeder bikes and scout walkers, You can also use stationary laser cannons to blast the enemy.
The multiplayer is fun with plenty of maps and game modes and some good bots for you and a freind to team up against.
A word of warning though i did come up against a bug in the game on one level, The computer controlled jedi playing along on a mission with me got stuck on one of the cut scenes meaning i had to start the whole level again.
So in short good fun but maybe best for star wars fans.

THE STORY:
Jaden Kor is just begining to learn the ways of the Jedi from Luke Skywalker and Kyle Katarn when the Disciples of Ragnos cult begin harvesting the Force-essence from planets across the galaxy. Across twenty missions and various planets (including ones familiar to fans, such as Yavin 4, Tatooine, Bakura, Corellia, Hoth, Coruscant, Vjun, Chandrila, Byss, Ord Mantell, Tanaab and Korriban) Jaden fights Stormtroopers, Sandpeople, rancors, wampas, Noghri and Dark Jedi on the path to becoming a Jedi Knight.

WHAT'S GOOD:
For once Lucasarts have been able to learn from their mistakes (or perhaps Raven is responsible) and have created a sequel with none of it's predecessor's failings. The platform element of the game has been smoothed out and the notion of physics has been applied, there are now fairly regular checkpoints so that you won't be howling in frustration at being sent way back to the beginning of the level, the lightsaber combat now has some structure and skill to it and, best of all, it doesn't do that irritating bleeping sound when your objectives change! Also, rather than a few huge linear levels, there are now shorter levels which you can choose among and which each have a unique twist, be it escaping an Imperial prison, defeating a (actually quite scary) mutant rancor or riding swoop bikes at ridiculous speeds. All in all, this game is very satisfying and really gives you a well-rounded Star Wars gaming experience. If you like thinking games, buy 'Knights of the Old Republic', but if you want a bit of sabre-swinging action, then this is the game for you.

WHAT'S BAD:
A few of the levels do seem to be slightly repackaged versions of levels from other Star Wars games, but that's not a major issue. The only other problem I had with the game is the fact that almost every single enemy Dark Jedi kills you at least once, sending you back to your last save, which means you have to save after every fight (and there's dozens and dozens!).

The best game for fans of Star Wars action!

With many attempts of Lucas Art to perfect a franchise in the gaming world not living up to expectations such as many of the recent film titles (Phantom Menace Game, Revenge of the Sith Game). I was suprised when i found a liking to this first person style game.

Although the "Star wars : KNights of the old republic" Duo of titles have made a name from themselves and I can myself see the playability of the game however I found the fact its set no where near the films with characters i can not relate to frustrating.

With Jedi Acadamy, there are characters you know such as Chewbaccha, Luke Skywalker Boba Fett. The game is set after the sixth film (Return of the Jedi) where Luke Skywalker has an acadamy of students. You play the role of a student, (who you customise to look how you like, later in the game you customise the abilities such as force - light/dark side). It makes the player of the game feel like you are living an extention of the film with a fairly decent storyline although does have a few flaws.

The single player mode does not last the longest, and the repeated lightsaber duels can get frustrated however with the force abilities and multiple weopons at your hands, you can make each duel original.

One thing i did not like was the character of Kyle Katorn - readers who have played Jedi OUtcast will know who he is - I would of rather be the apprentice of Skywalker however if i could live with it, im sure most players could!

Overall I throroughly enjoyed it and waiting for the next hopefully!!

4 Stars out of 5 - due to feeling that you do to many duels and not long enough storyline! However that aside.. brilliant!

Not bad.
I don't know what to say really. It's a game. You can play it if you're bored. It's nothing special, not as good as KOTOR or Battlefront.

Every Star Wars 'fanboy' should own this!
Ok, so it's old, but it's a good lightsaber game. The later levels are the best.
