Product Description

Product Description

The Star Wars saga will continue in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a videogame developed by LucasArts, which casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.

  • During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
  • Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos.
  • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls.
  • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
  • In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader.
  • Visit locations such as Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility.
  • Decisions made by players throughout the game will determine the path of the story, including multiple endings that will rock Star Wars continuity as they know it.
  • The Force Unleashed is LucasArts' first internally developed title for next-generation consoles, and it

4.0 out of 5 stars The Force is unleashed at last!, 20 Sep 2008

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Having bought this game, I can say that I was very impressed overall, despite that gameplay can get repetitive. I initially wanted to get the PS3 version but yet again I was put off getting the PS3 console due to more horror stories about overheating etc.
But I was pleasantly surprised to see that the PS2 version is a great quality game (I feared that due to the fact that the PS2 is practically dead now, this was going to be half a game, so to speak).
The story itself was fantastic and really felt that I was part of a star wars movie. I was also happy to see some of my favourite star wars characters either in the main game or as unlockable characters later on, like Emperor Palpatine (who I think is MILES better than Darth Vader as a bad guy), Admiral Ackbar (who is unlockable), Mace Windu, Han Solo and many more but I was hoping that an unlockable Plo Koon (who is my favourite character) would be on there, but no luck!
So for those of you, like me, who haven't yet bought a next-gen console due to some of the horror stories, have faith in this title as it does deliver on both great action and an amazing story which fits in very nicely with the saga.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool, 9 Nov 2008

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This game was much better than I expected. And I did expect to like it.

I was wary of so many ways to use the force. But the controls are really rather intuitive and accessible.
The story isn't shoddy either. The characterisation and dialogue could be a little better, but the overall story arc fits Star Wars.

You can feel like a behemoth of power when getting stuck in to the mooks. Throwing them around, blasting them with lightning, chopping them up with the lightsabre, choking the life out of them, or tossing objects at them.
Much of the scenery is useable, or at least open to being destroyed.
The fights with the bosses could be a little better, although there are elements to those fights that make them special. Mini-duels as both parties are locked in an exchange trying to gain the upper hand, but it's the last fee seconds of the fight where your determined grimace begins to form into a smug smile. At that point you have to hit the prompted button to continue the scripted event, if you miss it you'll have to fight them a bit more to get them in a position to start that event again, but if you get it right you'll see your character destroy the enemy is a truly evocative fashion.

It has some replay value. You get to start the adventure again, but keep the upgrades you've gained so far.
Even so, there's a lot of additional costumes you can only access by popping in the corresponding cheat code. Would have been nice to have been able to earn them all through play.

All told though, I'm glad I picked this up.

5.0 out of 5 stars star wars the force unleashed, 24 Jan 2009
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
by will cherry

i got this game for christmas having seen the advert on tv, and i wasn't dissapointed. it has a very good way of using the force and force points. as you go throught the game the enemies get harder to defeat - especially the jedi!, but this only makes the game more enjoyable.

there are only a few minor bad points about this otherwise brilliant game. one of them is that you have to complete the whole level before you can save the game properly, which can be a bit annoying as some of the levels are quite long. also, whene you are facing the at-st they always send missiles at you, which makes it harder to beat it.

but overall, this is possibly the best star wars game ever made. several of my friends came round and had a go on it, and some of them brought it the very next day. they all say that it is brilliant.

once you have upgraded all of your force powers to maximum they are amazing, and you can do almost anything with them (if you can remember all of the combinations) and this adds to the brilliance of the game.

i hope that you find this review useful, and i strongly reccomend this game.

other games i reccomend-lego indiana jones (ds), metroid prime hunters(ds) and lord of the rings conquest(ps2)
