I have been reading the series since it started with "Outcast", and I have loved the direction the world of Star Wars is taking. Gone are the days of simplistic Good vs Evil for no apparent reason, this series has political twists and turns, action, character development of both new and existing characters and though it is going in a direction dictated already by the release of the Legacy graphic novels, it has been one hell of a ride. This part of the series sees the Jedi taking over the Galactic Alliance having deposed dictatorial former-Imperial Admiral Natasi Daala, a struggle for the Jedi who historically have proved that Jedi plus power is not a good mix (just take a read of the Legacy of the Force series to know what I mean), the Skywalkers' hunt for mysterious Abeloth and their coping with being allied with a planet of Sith. This book is amazing in how the story is told, and with a few twists and turns that will keep people guessing the outcome of the next plot line. I have no idea how they are going to wrap all the threads up in only 2 more books and I will be incredibly sad when I reach the end of Apocalypse, the series finale.
I fervently hope this is not the last multi-book series set in a galaxy far far away, and I think the three series writers, Aaron Allston, Christie Golden and Troy Denning have done a wonderful job of bringing this story to life.
