Product Description

The tyranny has ended, but what will take its place? Five years after Return of the Jedi, Leia and Han are married and have shouldered heavy burdens in the government of the New Republic, and Luke Skywalker is the first in a hoped-for new line of Jedi Knights. But thousands of light-years away, the last of the Emperor's warlords, Grand Admiral Thrawn, has taken command of the remains of the Imperial fleet. Thrawn has made two vital discoveries that could destroy the Rebel Alliance's New Republic - two discoveries whose names both end in Solo!

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely fantastic! 13 July 2007
Format:Paperback
I have read this trilogy many, many times now and I never get bored. I think that Timothy Zahn gives an amazing account of the post-ROTJ Star Wars galaxy. The character of Grand Admiral Thrawn is perhaps the greatest creation in any of the Star Wars books, and rivals many of the firm favourites from the movies themselves.
Heir to the empire is a brilliant start for anyone who is new to Star Wars novels, and even for more seasoned fans it's a great beginning for a new story.
There are plenty of new characters, as well as all the others that we know and love.
I am always saddened when i get to the end of the story. Not because of emotional events in the plot, but simply because I have reached the end, and I know that there are not many other books that I enjoy reading so much.
If i could rate this 10 stars I would.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a book - beware 25 Dec 2013

Thought I was buying a Star Wars book to read on the beach - however this is a comic rather than a book. Not what I wanted at all.

This is an masterful adaptation of the Timothy Zahn book. The story flows freely and even if you have not read the book you will not have any problems following the story.
However the greatest thing about this book is the artwork. It's fairly untraditional, as the artists have a very distinct style, the characters are instantly reconizable although not rendered to look excately like actors of the movies. It works, and the grand and exciting drawings has all the style and action of the original movies - episode 4,5,6.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for what it is 16 May 2013
By Dave
Format:Kindle Edition
Okay, first off don't be an illiterate fool like me and excitedly buy this because you think 'Yay! They've finally put some of the older and brilliant star wars cannon on kindle!' They haven't. This is a comic book. It's a good comic book with great illustrations and let's face it a great story, but its still a comic book.
To fully enjoy this you need a tablet, my smartphone screen just isn't quite big enough to appreciate it.
I admit that's my fault entirely for not reading the description properly.
I am still hoping that they do put some of the older stuff on though, I'd love to read this and stuff like the truce at bakura, the bounty hunter trilogy, darksaber, etc. Surely I can't be the only one that would buy these?

3.0 out of 5 stars a bit pricey for a comic 21 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
An enjoyable read with good graphics but I thought I had purchased the book. A bit dissapointed in that respect. It needs to be made a bit clearer in the bumf at the store page.
