Before they joined the rebel alliance, C3P0 and R2D2 travelled the galaxy with many crews, protecting their friends and masters against a number of dangerous characters. In this collection, the robotic duo attempt to restore a prince to his rightful place on the throne of the planet Tammuz-An. They help him escape from a group of space pirates, as well as evil slave traders, and the perpetrators of an insidious conspiracy.

3.0 out of 5 stars A nostalgic curio for 'Star Wars' fans. 8 Dec 2010
This DVD contains eight episodes of the 1985 'Star Wars: Droids' animated TV show. The episodes have been edited into two stories; 'The Pirates and the Prince' and 'Treasure of the Hidden Planet.' Both tales canonically occur between the movies 'Episode III: Revenge of the Sith' and 'Episode IV: A New Hope.' The stories contain numerous throw-away references to the live-action films. Even Boba Fett makes a guest appearance.

It is worth noting that the entire series of 'Droids' - which ran for thirteen half-hour episodes throughout '85 - has never been released in it's entirety on DVD or video. The feature-length episode 'The Great Heep', which was released on VHS, is sadly ommitted from this collection.

The animation is very dated and Derek Holt's electro-pop score is cloying and repetitive, but these retro 'Star Wars' stories are still good fun and aimed squarely at younger children. They are much lighter in tone than the current run of CG animated 'Clone Wars' adventures.

As with the two 'Ewoks' DVDs, 'Droids' is an interesting curio for older 'Star Wars' fans. Younger fans will probably find these stories quite diverting as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars droids 27 July 2010
Verified Purchase
Two adventures of the most popular androids(r2d2 and c3po) set in the star wars universe on one dvd.It is dated when compared to modern animation but kids should still like the adventures contained herein. It is pretty much the star wars setting i.e. spaceships, strange worlds inhabited by stange creatures with a little bit of an influence of the empire trying to gain a foothold. Its a shame that only two films were ever done but that was pretty much the sign of the times there was only the 3 star wars films released and the ewok film spinoff.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review en castellano 19 Dec 2011
Estás películas se editaron en castellano pero ya son muy díficles sino imposibles de encontrar. En esta versión de UK sólo incluye inglés como idioma aunque trae subtítulos.
