Hasbro start their new Legacy Collection for 2008 with wave one consisting of figures from Return Of The Jedi.
As an added bonus, much like 2006's hologram figures in The Saga Collection or 2007's collector coins in the 30th Anniversary Collection, this year they've done something better - the Build-A-Droid `Droid Factory'. Each figure comes with a component of a small Astromech droid and when you get 4 figures in numerical sequence (in 4's starting with 1!) you get the whole droid.
The next figure in the series is #03: Chewbacca. This Chewie is actually based on one of remaining deleted scenes from Return Of The Jedi. After the escape from Jabba in the dune sea, the group return to their ships and run into trouble when they encounter a sandstorm. Those of you who have the Star Wars: Behind The Magic disc will be familiar with the scene.
Based more on the frame of the 2004 VOTC Chewbacca and sporting a bandage on his left leg, Chewie has head (rotational and vertical), shoulder (rotational and abductional), elbow (vertical and rotational), wrist (rotational), upper torso (rotational and vertical), lower torso (rotational and vertical), hips (vertical), knee (rotational and vertical) and ankle (rotational and vertical) articulation which gives him an amazing 26 ranges of movement.
He comes equipped with his trusty bowcaster.
The droid for figures #1 - #4 is R4-D6 and Chewie comes with the middle leg and head of the droid.
A somewhat obscure and windswept Chewbacca but definitely one of the most poseable to date.
