Story and Gameplay
The storyline of Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron concerns the two clone trooper brothers X2 and X1. Clones created using Jedi DNA, they were originally designed to aid in Order 66, the great Jedi purge set in motion by Chancellor Palpatine as a pretext to establishing the Empire. However, X2 chooses to foresake this path and instead joins the rebel alliance, standing opposed to his brother, X1, who remains aligned with the dark side and the plans of the revealed Darth Sidious.

Gameplay Levels and Features
Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron allows players to engage in combat on multiple levels where every action matters. On the ground players fight both on foot and utilising a variety of vehicles, units and weapons, while an assortment of Rebel and Imperial craft takes the fight into space, with brief cutscenes between levels creating a seamless experience. Whether on the ground or in the air, the players combat stats have direct consequences on the overall outcome of battles, making the outcome of each exchange crucial. The game also features multiple game modes and features, including the Heroes and Villains Mode, where you play as favourite characters from the Star Wars universe, and 16-player multiplayer support.

Customisation
Players will have at their disposal massive amounts of pick-up and play action for seemingly endless replay value. The PSP provides the deepest customisation options ever seen in a Star Wars Battlefront title, allowing players to personalise and build their character with more weapons and items than ever before, including the weapons characters carry into battle, the armor they wear on their backs, their species, gender, appearance and physical strengths. Players can also unlock hundreds of other items and bonuses to help even the odds.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Force is Strong with this One 7 Nov 2009

This is a welcome return for the battlefront series, this being the fourth game in the series. Like all the games so far, this one lets you relive the famous battles in the Star Wars saga, including Endor, Hoth and Mustafar. However haven't we done this all before you ask? Yes, however not only can you play on the planet surface, but also in Space and in Capital ships, all in one mission! There are un-entertaining cutscenes which allow you to do this and this somewhat gets repetitive, but you do have the feeling the battles in this game are on a huge scale. However this game does have the problem of a slightly dodgy camera and only 12 different planets to fight over. However saying this each battle you have will be fun, engaging and very different. Also there is a massive campaign, 6 modes of Galactic Conquest, Instant Action and of course the on-line multiplayer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Star Wars Battlefront is Back!!! 5 Jun 2011

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
If you have played Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron and liked it, Elite Squadron is a must buy! I am a big fan of the Star Wars saga and love the films and games. Elite Squadron derserves a good place in the Star Wars games series because of it unique features.

I have the whole of the Battlefront series: Battlefront, Battlefront 2, Battlefront Renegade Squadron and of course now Battlefront Elite Squadron. Elite Squadron is a great game and heres why:

1.Unique story line that tells us what happens from Episode.1 - Episode.6, but not what you already know because it follows a different story line. Not of Anakin and Luke being trained by Obi-Wan like in the films, but of two brothers X1 and X2 (I won't say anymore becasue I do not want to spoil it if you get the game).

2.The Campain has 3 parts: Act.1(Clone Wars), Act.2(Galactic Empire), and Act.3(Never before! What happens after all the films! As if it were Episode.7!!!

3.Heroes and Villains!!! This is were your favourite heroes and villains go head to head and you chose who you want to be!

4.Galactic Conquest mode.

5.Instant Action mode: YOU CHOOSE WHAT PLANET TO FIGHT ON, YOU CHOSE WHAT ERA, YOU CHOSE WHAT SIDE TO BE ON. ALSO FIGHT ON GROUND AND SPACE IN THE SAME BATTLE!!!

6.Character Customisation: You have four teams: Republic, C.I.S, Rebels, Empire. For each one create what your charatcer looks like. Also you chose there LOAD-OUT. Weapons, Explosive, Special items, ect...

GREAT GAME I WOULD SUGGEST GETTING IT. Campain:4/5, Instant Action:5/5, Galactic Conquest:4/5

2.0 out of 5 stars elite squadron 24 July 2010
A Kid's Review
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I had previously bought star wars battlefront 2, which i loved, so i thought this new version would take the already brilliant gameplay of it and improve upon that. And has it? weeeell no, not really. At first, the game may feel far superior, you can fight on ground, in the air, and in space, and by seeing the hordes of troops peppering the landscape, it feels much more like a full-out war, unlike in bfront 2, where troops wander pointlessly from one command post to the next. Though having such a big battlefield brings on one of the main problems, the game feels a lot more slow than bfront2. Enemies have far more life than on bf2, and you can only shoot at one enemy for so long without getting bored. In bf2 when you saw enemies, you would leap in with joy, celebrating in the carnage in which droid parts flew all over the screen. But this is a lot more slow paced, and if your looking for a fast and furious shooter, this definitely is not for you. But it does feel less repetitive then bf2, instead of charging as quickly as possible to the next command post, here you have to disable shields, capital ships, and charge up ion cannons, making for a much deeper and strategic gaming experience. Space battling is a mixture of good and bad, whilst it is a lot easier to fly and bring down enemies, each side only has 2 types of spacecraft, a fighter and transport, whereas bf2 had about 6. Probably the worst thing, however was something definitely not expected. The heroes here are awful. In bf2, heroes where one of the best parts of the game, performing gravity defying leaps and flips, and 1 hit KOing enemies with ease. But in this theyve done just about everything wrong. Firstly your life decreases at a much faster rate, and the meagre health refill gained from killing enemies is nowhere near enough to sustain you for any significant period of time. This doesnt really matter, however, as the heroes are so awful at fighting that you wouldnt want to be them anyway. When you swing the lightsabre, it does very simple, slow, slashes, and misses more often than not. You actually have more of an advanage playing as a normal troop, because if you do, you can equip an electrostaff, which is actually more powerful and accurate than the lightsabre. One of the games features is customisation, not only can you choose your weaponry from a wide selection, you can completely control your appearance. A lot of these weapons and clothes are unlockable, and it will take a while to unlock everything. However, whichever way you customize them, it seems impossible to make the droids look anything other than awful. Also entering is a new medal system. In bf2, you collected different medals, and when you reached a certain amount, you upgraded your weaponry. But here you can only obtain one of each, and these are ridiculously easy to obtain. Also entering this games gaggle of flaws is a by no means perfect control system. It doesnt take einstein to work out that if you can aim up or down in a shooter, that by no means improves the gameplay. There are, pleasingly, a far better selection of game modes, with instant action, galactic conquest, and a fairly good campaign. One thing that the game could actually do with out are the excessive cutscenes. Rather than landing in a ship, a cutscene triggers and you immidiatley find yourself inside.

pros

space battle easier to manage
large amount of customisation
battle on a far greater scale
deeper, more strategic gameplay
campaign mode is ok

cons

far more slow paced
pathetic cast of spaceships
awful heroes
troop controls
unnecessary cutscenes
dull maps
