The Bees Knees,

This album is fantastic.Just another great big helping of chirpy little songs that make you feel good that bands like this are around in the world today.More Indie magic from the scot's lads who keep on delivering the goods time and time again.Try it out my fellow human's you will very much enjoy.

Love Among The Stars,
By Michan Colvin (London, U.K.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Star Wars (Audio CD)
This was the first record I got. It was a birthday present from my older brother. He was a Teenage Fanclub fan and I think he got it for me because he knew there was a connection between the two bands and was curious. A dozen years later and it is still one of my favourites. When most indie groups were trying to make their guitars as noisy as possible the BMX Bandits were going against the grain with a wide ecclectic range of melodic pop styles. Green Grow with it's 12 string guitar and vocal harmonies could be a Byrds outtake; Extraorinary is like a stripped down Burt Bacharach styled love ballad; Students of Life a sexy country hoedown and the title track uses a Brian Wilson styled melody for a epic muppet-like call for tolerance. Some people laughed at the BMX boys back in the early 1990s but their influence is now widespread and they are back making new music that still sounds fresh and pure as ever. YIPEE!
