Product Description

Product Description

Elite Force is the ultimate in sci-fi first-person shooter action, using the Quake 3: Arena engine--the best 3-D shooter engine in existence. The first game based on the Star Trek: Voyager universe, Elite Force pits players against a multitude of Star Trek enemies, including the relentless Borg and never-before-seen aliens in intense single-player and multiplayer combat missions. Elite Force has eight missions, plus between-missions gameplay on the Voyager ship. Each mission consists of multiple levels, ranging from two to five. All away missions take place on other alien spaceships or space stations.

Amazon.co.uk Review

Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force is as close you can get to actually being able to participate in an away-team mission. The plot of this first-person shooter is pure Star Trek. During a battle with an alien ship, the badly damaged USS Voyager is transported by mysterious means to a strange spaceship graveyard.

It isn't long before the Voyager crew members discover they aren't the only abductees trying to patch their vessel together and escape... and the adventure begins. As a member of Voyager's newly formed hazard team, it's your job to secure required repair materials, gather information about the other survivors, and ultimately enable Voyager to resume its long journey home.

Frequently there are two or more team members with you (including familiar faces such as Seven of Nine), which lets missions play out more like episodes from the series than a solo firefight that just happens to take place in a Star Trek setting. Other team members will disable security fields, analyze data, converse with you as the mission progresses, and add some much-needed firepower in the tough battle sequences.

Elite Force uses the Quake III engine to good effect, serving up some beautiful environments, colourful special effects and smooth frame rates. Our only gripe is that all the missions take place inside various spacecraft, but the architecture used by each race is unique so that it isn't too repetitive.

The cast of the TV series provided the voices for their characters in the game, and the artists painstakingly modeled the interior of Voyager. It all lends an authentic flair to this fun game that belongs in the collection of any Star Trek fan. --T Byrl Baker

3.0 out of 5 stars Good game, but needs upgrading. 2 Oct. 2008

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Having played this game as a demo (on a good old PC) I decided to buy it for our Macbook Pro. After just managing to ignore the fact that the 'new' copy I ordered was in fact used, I began installation. Turns out the game can't play on the new Intel Macs. Would have been helpful if the dodgy vendor/Amazon mentioned this in the description.
So..bottom line: Good game, just don't try playing it on an Intel Mac.
PS. If you're a Macbook Pro user buying a game from Amazon, do your own compatibility research.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best game since Quake 3 1 July 2001
I received this game about 3 weeks ago and i have not been able to peal my self away from the game since (well except for food and sleep). The graphics are that good. You are able to take an actual 3D tour of voyager, and i don't mean just using quick time or anything like that, i mean actually walking around the ship and going into diffrent rooms such as sickbay, the bridge, main enginering and even your very own quaters. you are able to beam directly off the ship, and on to other ship using the the ships transporter systems. The game play of the Elite Force even puts Quake 3 to shame with it's multiplayer capability.

5.0 out of 5 stars Four and three quarter stars! 18 Sept. 2001

Excellent graphics, good story and good game play. Loading up each level seems to take forever though and the whole thing is, er, a little bit linear... and short for the single player game. The end boss however was virtually impossible to defeat... however... still 4.75 stars ;-)
