This collection of the first 7 Star Trek movies is a must have for serious fans of the franchise. Originally concieved to commemerate the 30 annervirsary of Star Trek this still is a great example of Star Trek at its best. The widescreen format helps enhance the enjoyment of the films. This is particulary true for The Motion Picture as it is filled with lavish set pieces and optical effects. The second movie The Wrath Of Khan is in my opinion worth buying the set for alone. The movie will have you on the edge of your seat and has a climax you will never forget. The third film, The Search For Spock is a great transitional movie and has a shock at the end you would never suspect. The next movie, The Voyage Home is a great romp. Involving our hero's traveling back to 1986 in an effort to save Earth of the future. More of a comedy film than the usual seriousness of the previous outings. Next is The Final Frontier which is actually a let down. Not that it is entirely bad, it just lacks the pace or direction of the previous outings. After this we really get back on par with The Undiscovered Country. From its action packed opening to its climactic end, this film won't let up. As it is the last film to contain the original crew it acts as a fitting end to their journeys. Lastly we have Generations, the first film to feature The Next Generation crew. Action packed a featuring the meeting of Kirk and Picard, this is an amazing journey from start to finish. The destruction of the Enterprise is one of the best special effects shot ever in a Star Trek movie. This collection comes in a beautiful box and has a brialliantly researched booklet to accompany it. A simple must have.
