O.k. let's get one thing sorted before we go any further. This is a book about trade cards. Now if your still reading, this is another ace book by Topps and Abrams. It follows on from Mars Attacks, Bazooka Joe and others.
It is a work of love, and a delight for any Trekkies or card collectors out there.

It has pictures of all the 1976 Star Trek cards that Topps released, it shows the front on one page and the back of the card on the opposite page. It also. has the 22 stickers and not many folk will ever see these never mind be able to own them, so this is the only way for most of us.
In addition you get a synopsis of the cast and crew and a text written by Paula Block and Terry Erdmann.

under each card is a brief run down on what the card is.

And if that's not enough you get 4 bonus cards that collectors will love. The cover is waxed like the original card wrappers and the book cover itself is a lurid pink like the gum that was in the packets.

It's a brilliant reference source for card collectors and Trekkies or even for those who are interested in the history of scifi. It exceeds the work done with the earlier books in my opinion. Though those too are excellent books.

Buy it you won't regret it.

I do hope Topps/ Abrams keep this series going. There is still plenty of card series that would benefit from these books. If any of you are interested in collecting cards try the cigarette card collectors forum, to chat with like minded folk and get the heads up on other books in this series.

all in all a 5 star book, from a great series.

Finally I get to see all the cards I never collected! Great cover in the same weird plastic wrap as used to go round the packs of cards, and nice to see the 'gum' on the inside. Gave me all sorts of nostalgic goosebumps - in a good way.

Waxing nostalgic for vintage Topps trading cards! 2 Oct. 2013
By Dave Cordes - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This is a fantastic little coffee table-sized book that is shaped just like a pack of original Topps Series 1 Star Trek trading cards. The dust jacket even perfectly duplicates the same vintage "Wax-Pack" wrapper look and feel! A complete set of these original cards can fetch hundreds of dollars on the collectors market now. Inside you will find page after page of photographs that have reprinted each individual trading card from the original 1976 Topps Star Trek Series 1 set. The images have been blown-up from their original size so the picture quality is a little fuzzy but still has something of a nostalgic look and charm. All 88 cards and 22 stickers which came only one per pack are presented along with insightful anecdotes and trivia from the people who made them about their creation and why a particular image was chosen or why something in a card's text is off. The cardbacks have also been reprinted as well on the opposite page which include a synopses about the episodes or description about the image. Hopefully this is just the first in a continuing series of Star Trek Topps non-sports trading card reference tomes very similar to their other fantastic collections such as Mars Attacks and Garbage Pail Kids

Whether you are nostalgic to get your hands on your old childhood vintage trading cards again, or you're a Star Trek fan who wasn't around to have experienced these first-hand, this is the perfect way to see these beautiful vintage cards collected in this awesome 216 page hardcover book. It even includes a set of 4 all-new trading cards stuck to the back of the book with the same slick printing on thick cardstock, two of which correct an oversight of the absence of Lieutenant Sulu on any of the original cards or stickers. And what pack of bubblegum cards would be complete without the bubblegum? Of course, they couldn't include an actual stick of bubblegum so they at least included a picture of it on the cover inside the waxy dust-jacket wrapper, including a broken piece on the back cover (as they often came broken up into tiny pieces in the wrapper)! For those of us who can remember, the gum was a disgusting rectangular stick of pink bubblegum sprinkled with white powdered sugar which was always hard as a rock when you would bite into it and would crumble apart in your mouth and deteriorate before you could chew it!

Ahhhhhh... the Good 'Ol Days!

Wonderful! 6 Oct. 2013
By C Cohen - Published on Amazon.com

Great looking hardback that takes a card by card look at the 1976 Topps Star Trek card set. After a brief introduction that covers the trading card history of The Original Series the reader is treated to the back and front of each card with some corresponding text. As a bonus 4 brand new real cards are included to round out the original set. The book is presented to look like a pack of cards and some real care went into that presentation. If you're a Trek fan or a Topps fan this will be a book that you want, and at under the $13 that Amazon is currently selling it for it's a steal.

For those that collected this set as children this book is priceless 12 Oct. 2013

Nostaglia Factor through the roof for those that had these cards as children. I had them a few years after they were issued as small child and this book brings back those great memories. I offer my thanks to the authors.

Hoping the publisher Abrams does books for the following Topps cards; The Brady Bunch, 1975 or 1976 Marvel Stickers, as well as some of the Topps Test Issues like Land Of The Giants, Adam12/Emergency or Superman In The Jungle.

Cool book, poor packaging 24 Sept. 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
The book brought back some good memories. Many of the cards I hadn't seen sine I was a child. An added bonus that I didn't realize, inside the back cover is a small pack of cards in a plastic pouch. The only minus was the poor packaging. Mine arrived in just a padded envelope with 2 puncture holes that went all the way through the front cover which is hardcover and quite thick. I hope the replacement comes in more protective packaging.

I received the book today and requested a replacement. Shipping both ways is free. The replacement is already being prepared to be shipped out to arrive in 2 days, so Amazon does get bonus points for that.

9/26 replacement received. Packaging was the same type of padded envelope before but the book avoided being skewered this time.

Great but.... 26 Jan. 2014

Why are the card images so small? I get that they are printed the size of the original cards, and maybe there would be resolution issues if you blew them up but there is so much blank space on each page! Why not fill it with trivia or behind the scenes info on Topps?
Still a fun thing to have.
