I was pleased to note that this DVD came with the Darmok episode that I had only partially seen before, couldn't remember the title of, and thought was one of the more outstanding episodes of TNG, irrespective of a couple of action and discussion sequences that could have been safely jettisoned.

The main feature is, of course, the double bill of Redemption (1 and 2). From the perspective of mise-en-shot and mise-en-scène, there is nothing of consequence to criticise. One could carp about the quality of some of the CGI, but this was made in 1991... 21-years ago! The production, although adherent to the series'format, is well beyond the capabilities of the metteur-en-scène. In other words, the creatives really cared about what they were doing. That said, the dialogue is too often overly grammatical and on the nose. However, TNG has to connect with a very broad audience, many of whom may find TNG a useful means via which, to be exposed to a high standard of English via drama.

This was a great purchase.
